Ellicott City, Md. -- Evon Medics will relaunch its MemoryDriver app on September 15, 2026, dropping its subscription requirement and opening the app to free download and free play for the first time.
The Maryland neurotechnology company is marking the update with a national "Beat the Clock" Challenge, a free public competition in which users navigate a 12-route virtual course and are scored on both speed and accuracy. A live leaderboard will track standings publicly during the event, and the five top finishers win cash prizes plus a full year of MemoryDriver Premium access.
The app's design traces back to a 2024 study on taxi drivers
Researchers from Mass General Brigham published findings in The BMJ in December 2024 after examining nearly nine million death records across 443 occupations. Taxi and ambulance drivers, who navigate in real time rather than following fixed routes, had the lowest proportion of deaths attributed to Alzheimer's disease of any occupation studied, at roughly 1% each, compared with 3.88% overall. Bus drivers and airline pilots, who follow predetermined routes, showed no similar pattern. The study's authors described the results as observational and could not establish cause.
Evon Medics co-founder Dr. Evaristus Nwulia said the app tries to recreate that kind of real-time navigation, which most people stopped practicing once GPS took over. "MemoryDriver hands that work back and makes it something people actually want to do on a Tuesday night," he said.
Version 2.0 adds levels, ranks and public leaderboards
Users now earn experience points and climb through competitive divisions ranging from Bronze to Platinum, with a live rank and percentile standing against other players. Routes lengthen and grow more complex as performance improves. The company said its earlier release, which required a subscription from the first session, failed to get people to commit before trying the product, prompting the redesign.
Entry requires registering through the app before September 15
To take part, users download MemoryDriver free from the Apple App Store or Google Play, tap the notifications bell to register, then complete the 12-route challenge during the competition window on launch day. Participants can share scores and follow standings using the hashtag #MemoryDriver. Evon Medics said it plans to turn the format into recurring national competitions with larger prize pools.
A redesigned Ambassador Program pays recurring commissions
Alongside the relaunch, Evon Medics introduced a MemoryDriver Ambassador Program for creators, healthcare professionals, educators and community leaders. Commissions on subscriptions generated through a personal referral code start at 20% and rise to 35% at the top performance level, with new Ambassadors beginning at a 25% introductory rate. Commissions recur for the life of the subscription rather than expiring, and the first 100 approved Ambassadors will hold permanent standing as the program's "Founding 100."
The relaunch opens what the company calls its Million Minds Mission, an effort to get one million adults regularly engaged with cognitive-health activities through competitions and community events. Evon Medics states that MemoryDriver is a consumer entertainment app, not a medical device, and has not been cleared or approved by the FDA to diagnose, treat or prevent Alzheimer's disease or any other condition.
