DETROIT – October 28, 2026 -- Racing fans can meet top drivers, ride along on an indoor track and see race cars up close at Racing Day, set for Tuesday, January 19, during the 2027 Detroit Auto Show at Huntington Place in Downtown Detroit.
Public show tickets are on sale now at detroitautoshow.com, with special pricing through November 30. The show runs January 14-24.
Racing Day puts drivers and ride-alongs on the show floor
Racing Day is presented by the Detroit Grand Prix and brings the two Detroit events together. The day includes ride-alongs in production vehicles with world-class drivers on the show's indoor course. The driver lineup and ride windows have not yet been announced.
The indoor track honors some of the landmarks on the actual Detroit Grand Prix street circuit.
Fans can get autographs, photos and race cars up close
Activities on the concourse and show floor include photo opportunities, "Winner's Circle" activations, autograph sessions and chances to meet some of racing's top drivers.
Race cars and artifacts will be on display, including vehicles representing the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Both series compete annually on the Streets of the Motor City at the Detroit Grand Prix.
The programming also includes Q&As and a panel discussion with drivers, motorsports industry insiders and representatives from the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. The full schedule is still to come.
The official commemorative poster for the 2027 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will be unveiled on Racing Day.
The Grand Prix keeps its presence through all public show days
Public days begin Saturday, January 16, and the show closes Sunday, January 24. Throughout that stretch, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will have displays on both the concourse and the show floor. They will feature video content, historical imagery, community engagement, interactive activities and high-performance open-wheel and sports cars like those that race on the streets of Downtown Detroit.
The 2027 Detroit Auto Show also includes a Media and Industry Day on Thursday, January 14, and a Charity Preview on Friday, January 15.
The Detroit Grand Prix itself returns to the Streets of Downtown Detroit June 4-6, 2027. It will include the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and INDY NXT by Firestone.
