Tacoma – October 12, 2026 -- LeMay – America's Car Museum in Tacoma, WA, has opened a refreshed Route 66 exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of America's most famous highway.
The exhibition, a longstanding favorite with museum visitors, got an aesthetic refresh. It adds centennial-themed elements and vehicles that pay homage to the highway's 100th birthday.
Drive Home films and artifacts will join the display throughout 2026
Throughout 2026, the exhibit will show films and artifacts from the upcoming Route 66 Drive Home.
The seventh Drive Home will cover all of Route 66
The Drive Home kicks off in just a few weeks. America's Automotive Trust and the Detroit Auto Show created the event to celebrate driving and keeping cars on the road. Each edition ends with a drive "home" to Detroit, Michigan.
For the seventh edition, the Route 66 Centennial Commission joins the partnership. The convoy will travel the full length of Route 66.
Nine vehicles and nearly two dozen privateers will make the trip
Nine vehicles will make the journey. Nearly two dozen "privateers" will follow the convoy in their own vehicles. Drivers who want to join can sign up through the organizers, who also post updates on America's Automotive Trust's social media channels.
