Halloween by Candlelight: String Quartet Takes Over NYC's Vessel

NEW YORK – October 30, 2026 -- For $70, you can spend Halloween night inside Hudson Yards' 150-foot Vessel while a string quartet plays haunting melodies by candlelight. A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics, a one-night-only Candlelight concert presented by Fever, starts at 9 p.m. on October 31.

Thriller and Psycho get a string-quartet makeover

The Highline String Quartet will reimagine music from classical works, film, television and pop culture. The program includes Michael Jackson's Thriller, Bernard Herrmann's Psycho, the theme from Stranger Things and music from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre and Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain round out the set.

Musicians play on the lower floor while guests roam the levels above

Heatherwick Studio designed Vessel as interconnecting flights of stairs and landings. For the concert, the musicians and thousands of candles will sit on the lower floor. Guests are free to move through the structure and listen from the levels above.

Tickets cost $70 and include Vessel access

The show runs 60 minutes. Doors open 45 minutes before the performance, and nobody is admitted once it begins.

The concert is part of the Candlelight series, which stages candlelit performances by local musicians in venues around the world. Programs range from Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin to new takes on songs by Queen, ABBA and Coldplay.
