JAŸ-Z takes the stage after a record-setting anniversary year
JAŸ-Z is the first hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is also a four-time Emmy winner, a 25-time GRAMMY Award winner and a 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
2026 was the year of JAŸ-Z 30, a year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt. The initiative included immersive experiences and limited-edition products. He broke attendance records with three sold-out concerts at Yankee Stadium and also sold out shows in London, Paris and Los Angeles.
"From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," JAŸ-Z said.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell asked JAŸ-Z to perform himself
Goodell said that when the NFL first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, he made one request. He asked that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. Oliver Schusser, Apple's Vice President of Music and International Content, said Apple has worked with JAŸ-Z for the last few years to bring artists to the halftime stage.
Apple Music Radio and Road to Halftime offer extra content
Right after the announcement, Apple Music Radio's Zane Lowe, Eddie Francis and Brooke Reese will discuss the news live on air. Fans can also visit JAŸ-Z's Road to Halftime on Apple Music for exclusive content, season-long programming and experiences created with the NFL.
Roc Nation produces and Hamish Hamilton directs
Roc Nation is executive producer of the telecast and strategic entertainment advisor of the live performance. Hamish Hamilton will direct.
