Las Vegas – September 19, 2026 -- Fans can donate blood and walk away with limited-edition Metallica merchandise at a new pop-up opening Sept. 28 at Fashion Show Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip.
The Red Cross x Metallica Blood Donation Experience, sponsored by Delta Air Lines, runs through March 19, 2027, timed to coincide with the band's Las Vegas residency.
Donors get a backstage-style setup and a shot at a custom drum kit
The immersive space lets visitors sit behind a replica of the drum set used by Metallica co-founder Lars Ulrich. Every donor receives a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Squindo while supplies last, and is automatically entered to win a replica TAMA drum kit modeled after the one built for Ulrich during Metallica's WorldWired Tour. One donor credits the band's music with helping her survive 13 surgeries
In 2021, Jamilah Bourdon was hit by a truck while cycling and lost her right leg. During more than two months in the hospital, she underwent 13 surgeries and received five blood transfusions. Unable to access music for the first month, she said she replayed Metallica's song "One" in her head, calling the band "a very spiritual" presence and "a significant part" of her healing.
Darren Irby, executive director of National Partnerships at the American Red Cross, said Bourdon's story shows how a single donation can determine whether a patient survives, and that the Metallica partnership channels fan passion into direct lifesaving action.
The partnership has already generated tens of thousands of donations
Since the Red Cross, Metallica and the band's All Within My Hands foundation launched their collaboration in April 2025, fans have made more than 25,000 blood donations in the United States and roughly 93,000 worldwide.
