BenQ's New 4K Projectors Make Home Golf Simulators Look Real

BenQ's New 4K Projectors Make Home Golf Simulators Look Real

Costa Mesa, Calif. – October 01, 2026 -- BenQ has launched two new projectors built specifically for golf simulators, the AK900ST priced at $5,999 and the AK800ST priced at $3,999, both set to go on sale later this month through BenQ.com and authorized resellers.

True 4K resolution aims to capture every blade of grass

Both models deliver native 4K UHD resolution with up to 6,000 ANSI lumens and 97% Rec. 709 color coverage, four times the pixel count of 1080p projectors. BenQ says this level of detail is necessary because golf simulator images are largely static, making imperfections in grass, sand, and shadow far more noticeable than in fast-moving film scenes. A built-in Golf Mode 2.0 uses frame-based AI processing to adjust color, contrast, and detail specifically for simulated courses.

"Golfers notice the color of the fairway, texture of the rough, and shadows around a bunker, and those details are what make a course feel real," said Bob Wudeck, senior director of business development at BenQ.

Automated tools cut down complex simulator setup

As impact screens grow larger and curved installations become more common, aligning the projected image has become one of the hardest parts of setup. The AK900ST and AK800ST address this with Auto Screen Fit 2.0, which uses an onboard camera and sensors to detect screen size and shape and adjust image geometry automatically for flat or curved screens. A one-tap Auto Focus feature sharpens the image without manual adjustment, while an Ambient Visual Enhancer tunes the picture in response to changing room light. New 5:4 and 3:2 aspect ratio options join existing 1:1 and 4:3 golf simulator formats.

Two-thirds of simulator owners also use the space for movies and gaming

According to a February 2026 survey of 500 U.S. respondents cited by BenQ, two-thirds of golf simulator owners use their setup for movies, sports, or gaming as well. Both projectors include Scene Memory for saving custom settings across golf, film, and gaming modes, HDR10 support with Cinematic Mode for native 24p film playback, and Automatic Low Latency Mode for high refresh rates when connected to a game console.
