SHERIDAN, WYOMING – February 28, 2025 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 28, 2025 – The Dacia Sandriders have achieved a significant milestone, securing their second victory in the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship. This triumph came after Nasser Al-Attiyah and Édouard Boulanger delivered an exceptional performance in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, culminating in a thrilling final stage.

With a narrow 41-second lead at the start of the decisive 167 timed kilometers today (Thursday), Al-Attiyah and Boulanger needed to perform at their peak to maintain their position. Driving their sustainable-fuelled Dacia Sandrider, which performed flawlessly across the challenging sand and dunes between Mezeer’ah and the finish in Abu Dhabi city, Al-Attiyah/Boulanger achieved their second fastest stage time of the event, winning by 2 minutes and 28 seconds.1

The qualifying session, held under the floodlights of the Losail International Circuit, saw intense competition among the Hypercar prototypes.

Qualifying Breakdown

Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne were tasked with qualifying the PEUGEOT 9X8 cars. The session began at 5:40 PM, with track temperatures at a cool 17°C. Vergne, driving the #93 car, began his warm-up laps on medium compound tires. He initially clocked a time of 1:39.963 before improving to 1:39.926 on his final fast lap. This performance secured him a spot in the Hyperpole session, reserved for the top ten qualifiers.

Thirty-six cars, including eighteen Hypercar prototypes, participated in the Prologue, providing a competitive environment for the teams to assess their vehicles. Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ six drivers, behind the wheel of the PEUGEOT 9X8, covered a total of 3586 kilometers under varied track conditions. This extensive running allowed them to refine prototype setups and evaluate tire strategies.

Testing and Performance
