Dallas – October 12, 2026 -- Southwest Airlines is giving Rapid Rewards members a way to turn a cluttered phone screen into free points: upload a screenshot of your homepage notifications and earn between 1,000 and 10,000 points. The offer is part of "Enter Airplane Mode," a new brand campaign aimed at burned-out travelers.
Southwest cites a survey showing 76% of respondents feel burnout
In a Southwest-sponsored survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults aged 18 to 64, conducted in August 2026, 76% said they are experiencing burnout. Another 68% said a trip is one way to regain control of their time. Sabrina Callahan, Southwest's Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, said the campaign encourages customers to turn their "breaking point" into a "booking point."
Notification Vacation and the Burnout Quiz hand out up to 187 million points
The Notification Vacation promotion has 150 million points available in total, capped at 10,000 per member. A separate Burnout Quiz gives each verified completion 500 points, from a pool of 37 million. Combined, the two promotions offer up to 187 million points, though no individual member can receive that total.
Both promotions require no purchase and are open to Rapid Rewards members aged 18 or older in the 50 U.S. states and D.C. Each member is limited to one entry per promotion. Points are available while supplies last, and daily availability may be limited.
Hollywood directors and Adam Scott front the ad spots
Will Speck and Josh Gordon directed the campaign spots, and Adam Scott voiced them. Ad agency GSD&M created the campaign, with creator agency Later and media agency Spark Foundry also involved. The spots show everyday stressors such as overloaded calendars, endless meetings and packed commutes.
Flexible policies and onboard upgrades back the pitch
Southwest points to its no change fees and no cancel fees, though a fare difference may apply to changes. Basic fare round-trip bookings must be canceled or upgraded, and cancellations must be made at least 10 minutes before departure to avoid forfeiting travel funds.
The airline also cites updated boarding, assigned seating and Starlink WiFi. Rapid Rewards members get free WiFi thanks to T-Mobile, available only on WiFi-enabled designated aircraft.
