Recognizing tourism's significant influence in fostering cross-cultural understanding as a foundation for peace and sustainable development, the Committee reaffirms the vital role of tourism as a catalyst for peace, mutual understanding, and friendship among people worldwide.

On the eve of the official meeting of the G20 Ministers of Tourism, the side event called for a new approach to tourism policy and governance that places a focus on people and planet.

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 7, 2024 - The global tourism industry has shown remarkable resilience as it bounces back to near pre-pandemic levels, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer published by UN Tourism. In the first seven months of 2024, international tourist arrivals reached an impressive 96% of 2019 figures, marking a significant recovery after the unprecedented challenges the industry faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
