Subaru Trailseeker EV Named TopGear.com's U.S. Car of the Year
CAMDEN, N.J. – October 30, 2026 -- The all-electric 2027 Subaru Trailseeker SUV, with up to 281 miles of range, is on sale now from $39,995 MSRP after TopGear.com named it Car of the Year in its 2027 U.S. Car Awards. Editors picked it from among new or significantly updated models from multiple automakers.
The Trailseeker packs 8.5 inches of ground clearance for off-road driving
Top Gear editors praised the SUV's on- and off-road drivability. Subaru lists a best-in-class 8.5 inches of ground clearance, standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE for rough terrain.
Top Gear U.S. Correspondent Alex Kalogiannis called X-MODE "set-and-forget" and said it handles the tricky terrain work on trails. He added that he would not mind more WRX DNA in the mix, but concluded that "the pros far outshine the cons."
