CAMDEN, N.J. – October 30, 2026 -- The all-electric 2027 Subaru Trailseeker SUV, with up to 281 miles of range, is on sale now from $39,995 MSRP after TopGear.com named it Car of the Year in its 2027 U.S. Car Awards. Editors picked it from among new or significantly updated models from multiple automakers.
The Trailseeker packs 8.5 inches of ground clearance for off-road driving
Top Gear editors praised the SUV's on- and off-road drivability. Subaru lists a best-in-class 8.5 inches of ground clearance, standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE for rough terrain.
Top Gear U.S. Correspondent Alex Kalogiannis called X-MODE "set-and-forget" and said it handles the tricky terrain work on trails. He added that he would not mind more WRX DNA in the mix, but concluded that "the pros far outshine the cons."
Dual electric motors deliver 375 horsepower and a 4.4-second 0-60 time
On pavement, the Trailseeker's two electric motors produce 375 combined horsepower. Subaru quotes a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.4 seconds, and the SUV offers configurable drive modes. Kalogiannis described it as quick, balanced and even-keeled.
A standard NACS port charges the battery from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes
Every Trailseeker has a North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge port. It supports charging speeds up to 150 kW, which can take the battery from 10% to 80% in as little as 28 minutes. Range tops out at 281 miles on a single charge.
Three trim levels come with a 14-inch touchscreen and seating for five
The 2027 Trailseeker is offered in Premium, Limited and Touring trims. All include a 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless smartphone chargers and seating for up to five.
