Toyota's Rhonda Gilyard Honored with 2024 Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame Induction

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 13, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 13, 2024 – For more than two decades, Rhonda Gilyard has created pathways for women in manufacturing to succeed as a leader within Toyota North America. Gilyard along with nine other women are the latest to be inducted into the Women in Manufacturing (WiM) Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Boston, Mass., on Oct. 6, 2024.  

In her current role, Gilyard serves as the vice president of administration at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc. in Alabama - a joint venture between the two automakers. "I am humbled and grateful to be selected as an inductee in the WiM Hall of Fame," said Gilyard. "To be honored with such awe-inspiring women and considered among the ranks of previous inductees is more than I could have ever dreamed or expected."  

Bridgestone Winter Driving School Enters New Era with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Performance Affiliation

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 13, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 13, 2024 – Since 1983, the Bridgestone Winter Driving School has been the longest continually running winter driver education program anywhere in the world.  

For 2025, the school's performance education classes are being recast with an exclusive fleet of Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) vehicles: the turbocharged GR Supra, the boxer engine GR86, and the 3-cylinder, turbocharged all-wheel drive GR Corolla.  

Drivers will have expertly guided use of the full-range of Bridgestone Blizzak shod GR sports cars on the school's snow- and ice-covered tracks in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The vehicles will be presented in one- or two-day driving experiences.  

Toyota Motor North America Reports U.S. September and Third Quarter 2024 Sales Results

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 13, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 13, 2024 – Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) reported U.S. September sales of 162,595 vehicles, down 20.3 percent on a volume basis and down 9.9 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis versus September 2023. September electrified vehicle sales consisting of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, pure electrics and fuel cells were 48.4 percent of total sales volume and totaled 78,683, up 22.4 percent on a volume basis and up 38.3 percent on a DSR basis.

Toyota Supports Relief Efforts for Hurricane Helene and Other Recent Natural Disasters

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – Toyota Motor North America and Toyota Financial Services announced efforts to assist those suffering from the impacts of Hurricane Helene and other recent natural disasters across the country.  

Toyota contributes annually to The American Red Cross and SBP, and these funds are utilized to support recovery efforts when disasters strike around the nation. To further assist affected communities, Toyota is matching contributions for donations made by U.S.-based employees to support The American Red Cross, SBP and other eligible nonprofits. Additionally, Toyota Financial Services announced it is offering payment relief options to affected customers. This broad outreach includes any Toyota Financial Services (TFS) or Lexus Financial Services (LFS) customers in the designated disaster areas.  

New Name, Same Great Powertrain for the 2025 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – Since 2019, the Toyota RAV4 Prime model has brought the flexibility of plug-in hybrid driving to customers. With 42 miles of battery-powered all-electric range that can be recharged at home or a public charging station, and a manufacturer-estimated 38 MPG combined rating when in hybrid mode, it's a RAV4 made to put the power of choice in drivers' hands. For the 2025 model year, it continues with a winning blend of powerful electric and hybrid-electric driving and changes its name to RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), or simply RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid.  

The switch to the RAV4 Plug-in name is intended to help consumers more easily identify the powertrain choices among RAV4 models. In addition to the model naming change, the Toyota logo on the front and rear of the vehicle will no longer have a blue "halo" within.  

Toyota Alabama Rolls Off Its Ten Millionth Engine for a Tacoma Hybrid

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – Toyota Alabama officially assembled its 10-millionth engine, an i-FORCE MAX 2.4-liter, to power an all-new hybrid Tacoma.  

The engine plant, which first broke ground in 2001, assembles a third of all Toyota engines in North America.  

"We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone and look forward to seeing where the next 10 million engines will take us," said Jason Puckett, president of Toyota Alabama. "I feel a great sense of pride knowing team members are powering the heart of some of the most popular, reliable and safest vehicles on the road."  

Toyota Alabama's 2,000 team members assemble upwards of 777,000 engines a year.  

Electrify the Road in the 2025 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – In 2016, the Prius Prime was introduced to the world as a plug-in hybrid model that offered the best of both worlds, operating on battery electric power for a limited range or hybrid gas-electric power for longer-range drives. In 2022 a new Prius Prime model was introduced, with a manufacturer-estimated EV range of up to 44 miles and an impressive 6.6-second 0-60 time. It's a powertrain option that has become a great choice for many drivers, giving them the power to take on a daily commute in all-electric mode or head for that destination road trip that's across the country.  

Toyota Adds $250k to STEM Education Support for Plano ISD

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – The building blocks of future mobility start by equipping communities with the resources they need for their own future.  

To do this, schools must increasingly provide hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and students must have the opportunity to gain industry knowledge.  

In the spirit of improving the communities where we live and work, Toyota Motor North America (Toyota) announced today that it is providing an additional $250,000 to Plano ISD to support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming and curriculum.  

Toyota previously provided financial support for STEM education in its home community as it announced the relocation of its North American headquarters to Plano in 2014. At that time, Toyota provided $1 million to the innovative Plano ISD Academy High School campus.
