Hello Future: A Strong Visual Appearance Marks the Start of a New Era

Eurobike 2022 presents itself with new key visual and new claim

Frankfurt – In terms of content, visuals and communication, the leading global trade show for bike business is reinventing itself in Frankfurt am Main. As a meeting place for manufacturers, retailers, media and fans alike, Eurobike is traditional trade show and trendsetting think tank at the same time.

With a full program that goes far beyond a classic trade show, Eurobike inspires, designs, guides and interconnects the bike and future mobility industry – inviting, engaging, and trendsetting. A new key visual and a new claim represent a departure into a new era.

The key visual in bright yellow and magenta is formally derived from the figurative mark. The abstract two-wheeler is bound to attract a lot of attention around the topic of urban mobility. With visual associations such as a colon, binoculars, or the concept of dialog, the key visual serves as an ideal projection surface. The dual circle is used as a living graphical element, can be used as a surface for text or images, as a browser favicon or as an app icon.

The characteristic Eurobike color DNA has been enhanced by a striking color gradient from yellow to magenta. With this, the trade show's visual identity takes its next evolutionary step towards the future. The new claim underlines this development: "Hello Future" is an optimistic look forward and at the same time extends a friendly invitation to everyone to participate in shaping the future with new mobility concepts. Hello Frankfurt. Hello Future.

"The new visual identity perfectly matches our ambitions to further develop the trade show conceptually," says Stefan Reisinger, general manager of Eurobike organizer fairnamic.

The new Eurobike key visual was created and designed by Poarangan Brand Design & Consulting in Frankfurt.

The 30th Eurobike is open from Wednesday, July 13, to Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Public days: Saturday and Sunday. For more information, go to: www.eurobike.com.

Future mobility movers: Eurobike 2022 shows how cities will be mobile in future

Future mobility movers: Eurobike 2022 shows how cities will be mobile in future

New Eurobike extends portfolio to include tomorrow’s mobility – Frankfurt showcases alternative future mobility solutions

Friedrichshafen/Frankfurt – Eurobike 2022 is reporting a record number of registrations. Expanding the concept and explicitly integrating the topics Future Mobility and Urban Mobility in all their facets is perfectly complementing classic bike topics. Working hand in hand with competence clusters from politics, administration and business, as well as experts from research and practice, Eurobike is actively advancing the transformation of transport from the viewpoint of stakeholders in the bicycle industry. Two established Eurobike features, namely the Start-Up Area and Cargo Area, are moving into Hall 8 – the new flagship for alternative mobility solutions on the exhibition grounds.

The green transformation in transport policy is gathering pace. Even though it currently remains to be seen what priority the new Federal government will assign to the issue of transforming mobility, development – above all in urban areas – is already overtaking what is commonly being discussed as forward planning. Through bicycles, e-bikes and electrically assisted small vehicles such as e-scooters and sharing services, the transition to micromobility is already taking place, while the space required and CO2 footprint per user are falling. The new Eurobike is both a driving force and a catalyst in this development; it is showcasing new products and innovations while also offering mobility stakeholders a platform, networks, concepts and contents extending beyond the bicycle and e-bike. Nucleus and epicentre of Future Mobility will be Hall 8 on the Frankfurt Messe exhibition grounds with a connection to the Demo Area.

In order to extend the concept towards urban mobility, the organisers of Eurobike have augmented the team with powerful reinforcement from a range of different disciplines. MotionLab.Berlin with its founder and leading light Christoph Neye, who sees support for Eurobike as a logical consequence of his commitment to new mobility: “As co-initiator of MotionLab.Berlin, I have been able to experience the potential for new mobility every single day. The bike segment, in particular, which is being increasingly supplemented by light electric vehicles (LEVs) in urban applications, is witnessing the emergence of new technologies and services capable of changing our mobility for the better in the long term. It is therefore also a matter of personal concern for me to support and advise Eurobike as it pursues this path. And, as a proponent and supporter of the hard-tech start-up scene, I am delighted by this opportunity to introduce exciting and unique innovations to a large public at the leading trade fair for the future mobility.”

Cargo bikes – guaranteeing the switch to greener transport

Future mobility is inconceivable without cargo bikes. Only if we succeed in moving cargo over short distances in a safe and environmentally aware manner will we manage to transform transport policy. The cargo bike will also be finding a new home in Hall 8 “Mobility of the Future”. Eurobike Show Director Dirk Heidrich explains: “Since 2018, the Cargo Area has been a meeting point for the dynamic cargo bike sector. Through the choice of Frankfurt, we will be offering the product a fitting territory, a real laboratory, the right setting and a connection to the subject matter.” Community events such as evening cargo bike excursions both with and into the local cargo bike scene will be just as much a part of the programme as cargo bike races on the Festival weekend (16 and 17 July). All-inclusive stand offers as well as direct access to the Demo Area with ideal opportunities for testing as well as proximity to the topic areas of Start-Ups, Urban Mobility, Sharing as a Service, Infrastructure and the like all combine to produce a nicely rounded package.

The Eurobike organisers are now extending their cooperation with the Berlin-based think-and-do tank cargobike.jetzt, which acts as a supporter and driving force in this field. “Eurobike is the place to be for the cargo bike sector,” says Arne Behrensen, founder of the undertaking. “Frankfurt Messe is a top international address. And in the streets of the city, the cargo bike revolution is in fact already in full swing.” Cargo bike sharing is set to play a tremendous role in the future as well. For many city-dwellers, this now represents the first option to really live without a car. After all, the easier it becomes to borrow a cargo bike for specific needs, the more matter-of-fact it will become to manage without a car.

It is quite clear that the changing mobility needs new traffic infrastructure. Rapid cycle paths are under construction – direct, flat, junction-free routes for bikes and pedelecs that link A to B and then lead on to C and D. They too are a major step towards alternative (bike) commuting. Eurobike will be highlighting the development and projects also in conjunction with exhibitors from the field of infrastructure and planning. An atmosphere of change prevails in all areas of the new mobility,” says Show Director Dirk Heidrich. “And we are already looking forward to reproducing precisely this atmosphere.”

The 30th edition of Eurobike runs from Wednesday 13 July, to Sunday 17 July 2022, from 09:00 to 18:00 each day and is open to the general public on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, please visit: www.eurobike.com.

Battery Experts Forum and Eurobike – parallel events create new synergies

Battery meets Bike: Leading events become direct neighbours and exhibit simultaneously at the Frankfurt Messe exhibition grounds

Frankfurt – a double power pack: The two leading events in the industries of battery technology and bike mobility are providing a unique opportunity for a cross-disciplinary transfer of knowledge and new contacts. The Battery Experts Forum, Europe’s largest conference on the subject of battery technology, is moving into the time slot from 12 to 14 July 2022 for its 17th edition and will be a direct neighbour of the leading trade fair Eurobike (13 to 17 July), also taking place at the Messe Frankfurt site.

“The triumphant progress of the e-bike is closely linked with that of global battery technology. By coinciding with the prestigious Battery Experts Forum the new Eurobike will be promoting inspiration on both sides as it brings more international specialists into contact with each other and creates a greater momentum at the same place and same time,” points out fairnamic Managing Director Stefan Reisinger.

The Battery Experts Forum, Europe’s largest conference for the battery industry, celebrated its premiere at the Frankfurt am Main exhibition site with a sell-out event in 2019. With the current expansion, the BMZ Group is responding to the high demand and has transformed the new location into a gathering for the battery technology industry as a whole over the three days. CEO and founder Sven Bauer explains: “In 2022 we are hoping for further growth of the Battery Experts Forum and are rapidly becoming the world’s largest battery conference. In conjunction with the parallel Eurobike show, we are creating new synergies and boosting exchange with other sectors of industry.” From 12 to 14 July (open daily from 9 am to 5 pm) the event with some 100 specialist talks on seven stages in the conference centre will additionally be occupying Hall 6 at the fair grounds and will expand its exhibition area to more than 10,000 m². The BMZ Group is expecting 160 exhibitors and around 5,000 participants from more than 50 nations. Further information is available at www.battery-experts-forum.com.

The 30th edition of Eurobike runs from Wednesday 13 July, to Sunday 17 July 2022, from 09:00 to 18:00 each day. On Saturday and Sunday, it will be open to the general public. The leading trade fair is using the entire western section of the Messe Frankfurt site to create a perfect circuit covering more than 100,000 m² of hall space that will showcase the bicycle in all its many facets. Included in this tour are Halls 8 and 9 as well as the new Halls 11 and 12, both of which have two levels. More than 1,400 exhibitors and some 100,000 participants are expected from all over the world. For more information, please visit: www.eurobike.com.

Exclusive access to growth markets: the Investors’ Lounge at Eurobike 2022

New: Eurobike to become platform for investors

Friedrichshafen/Frankfurt – Interest among financial investors to put money into companies from the bike, sports and mobility sectors is on the increase. In Frankfurt, financial investors will find contacts, insights, networking opportunities and unique access to direct spheres of activity in the new Eurobike Investors’ Lounge on the days reserved for trade visitors from 13 to 15 July 2022. Personal support, market development presentations, targeted tours of the trade show and the exclusive lounge meeting point located close to the New Mobility area in Hall 8 will all bring investors into contact with up-and-coming brands, business solutions and the start-up scene.

“Through the Eurobike Investors’ Lounge, we are offering companies seeking investment or openings for cooperation in the on-trend bike and mobility markets an ideal opportunity for dialogue. The circumstances and timing could not be better. Relocation of the leading trade fair from Lake Constance to the financial and business hub of Frankfurt along with developments in the market due to the pandemic, globalisation and change in energy policy, not to mention the high level of dynamics within the ‘urban mobility’ ecosystem, are all drivers of change,” says fairnamic Managing Director Stefan Reisinger. With more than 100,000 square metres of exhibition space, Eurobike is the world’s most important platform of its kind and as such reflects the bike and mobility sector in a comprehensive and future-oriented manner. Above all, it is a global meeting point for key actors within the industry.

The show organisers are looking to their collaboration with Kindermann Value Creation GmbH as a partner and driving force behind the Eurobike Investors’ Lounge. The company has close connections to financial donors who have invested in businesses from the bike, sports and outdoor sectors. Managing Director Ralf Kindermann explains: “In the last twelve months, there have been more than 20 transactions in our industry and an increasing number of investment funds are becoming owners of companies. With good contacts, the Eurobike Investors’ Lounge is set to become an exclusive meeting point not only for current investors and owners but also for those with aspirations in this field. Partners and manager of funds and family offices will receive personal support, including market development presentations and guided tours of the trade show. As a financial centre, Frankfurt provides the ideal conditions for a show location. Tickets for the Eurobike Investors’ Lounge will be available in limited numbers via the Eurobike website as from May.

The 30th edition of Eurobike runs from Wednesday 13 July, to Sunday 17 July 2022, from 09:00 to 18:00 each day. On Saturday and Sunday, it will be open to the general public. For more information, please visit: www.eurobike.com.

Record participation set for new Eurobike

Successful marketing for Eurobike 2022 – high international participation – exhibition grounds and hall plan taking shape

Friedrichshafen/Frankfurt – Boosted by increasing awareness of the on-trend topics of bikes, e-mobility, lightweight electric vehicles and the shift towards sustainable mobility, the leading industry trade show is shifting up a gear. Eurobike’s relocation from Lake Constance to Frankfurt am Main and subsequent fully relaunched concept with many new features is attracting considerable interest. “Registration and floor-space demand are at record levels – desire to take part in Eurobike 2022 is at the highest level, both nationally and internationally. The premiere in Frankfurt is going to be big on a new scale, even by Eurobike standards. With these excellent bookings, the exhibition ground and hall planning is taking concrete shape – and offering a diverse range of participation formats in new theme areas,” announces Stefan Reisinger, managing director fairnamic and Eurobike organiser. From 13 to 17 July 2022, Messe Frankfurt’s entire west section will be presenting over 100,000 m² of new bikes, innovative mobility solutions and sustainable transport concepts.

Right from the start of hall and stand planning, Eurobike’s organisers are delighted with the strong participation from the international bike industry. “Ninety per cent of Eurobike’s exhibition space is already booked – by existing customers and new customers. In addition, we see support for the new concept with the return of many players who have not exhibited for a few years. A large number of companies recognise the opportunity that we have with Eurobike 3.0 in Frankfurt to promote bikes, liveable cities and the transformation towards sustainable mobility. The new trade show concept and our expectations that Eurobike’s international standing would increase with the relocation, are proving correct. People trust in us and we are going to deliver,” says Stefan Reisinger.

In addition to the usual Bike, Parts and Accessories sections, the show organisers are also seeing particularly high demand for the area “The Future of Mobility”. The focus here is on lightweight electric vehicles, infrastructure providers, intermodality concepts, digitalisation, logistics and start-ups in the largest exhibition hall on the Frankfurt showgrounds with over 30,000 m². This is where Eurobike is presenting innovations and visions that go beyond the bike industry. Moreover, there are strategic alliances with the main industry partners and associations: Zweirad-Industrie-Verband (ZIV), the Verbund Service und Fahrrad e.V. (VSF), the Bundesverband Zukunft Fahrrad (BVZF), cargobike.jetzt, and purchasing associations, such as ZEG and BICO, the German federal state of Hesse and the city of Frankfurt.

New location: four major exhibition halls with six levels

In future, Eurobike will take place on a compact, modern trade show arena. The fairnamic joint venture between trade fair organisers Frankfurt and Friedrichshafen is using the entire western section of the showgrounds on the river Main to celebrate bikes and all their different facets in a perfect round circuit over some 100,000 m² of exhibition area. This includes exhibition halls 8 and 9, and the new halls 11 and 12, which both have two levels. True to the motto: “The fastest and simplest mode of urban transport from the city to the show has to be the bike,” there is secure bike parking for exhibitors and visitors directly on the showgrounds. The three entrance areas ‘Torhaus’, ‘Galleria’ and ‘Portalhaus’ will ensure an even flow of visitors from all sides. “For this, the 30th edition of Eurobike, we have a befitting infrastructure ready to get the industry to and from this leading international trade show,” explains show director Dirk Heidrich. In and around the halls, Eurobike will naturally have a wide range of action areas, catering options and outdoor test circuits.

The 30th Eurobike is holding its relocation premiere in Frankfurt am Main from Wednesday, 13 July to Sunday, 17 July 2022. For more information, please visit: www.eurobike.com.

Now it’s official: trade fair organisers Messe Frankfurt and Messe Friedrichshafen launch fairnamic joint venture

Messe Frankfurt takes a stake in fairnamic GmbH – the joint venture focuses on the fields of urban mobility and general aviation – Eurobike and Aero are the core brands

Friedrichshafen/Frankfurt am Main – On 17 November 2021, trade fair organisers Messe Frankfurt and Messe Friedrichshafen officially signed off on their new partnership, which is primarily concerned with innovative mobility. Messe Frankfurt is taking a stake in fairnamic GmbH, a joint venture that combines the expertise of both partners in the fields of urban mobility and general aviation with a view to driving the global mobility transition. With the main focus on the Eurobike and Aero brands, the goal is to expand and develop these flagship fairs at both venues.

The new company based in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance aims to deepen the collaboration that has long existed for the Aero South Africa and Eurobico trade fairs. “Mobility sectors represent extremely promising markets for the future, and our partnership seeks to acquire new markets and reach new target groups while expanding our international reach. Messe Frankfurt is a real heavyweight in the global trade fair market, making them our ideal partner,” said Klaus Wellmann, Managing Director of Messe Friedrichshafen. This joint venture is unlike any other in the industry and is focused on the future markets for bicycles, e-bikes, micromobility and general aviation. These are key markets in the ongoing mobility transition, something that is also a point of emphasis for Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt: “fairnamic allows us to unite factors that are the key to success in these promising markets: ‘globality’, strength and speed. We must assert and expand the market positions of the Eurobike and Aero flagship fairs quickly and make them available to a wide audience. This will strengthen and grow the mobility expertise of each of our companies.”

fairnamic’s managing directors, Stefan Reisinger and Stefan Mittag, are both experienced trade fair organisers. Stefan Mittag: “Friedrichshafen-based fairnamic GmbH is an innovative company that enriches not only its home base in Friedrichshafen, but the entire region, and it is well aware of the advantages offered by its location.” Aero (27 to 30 April 2022) will continue to be held in Friedrichshafen, where it benefits in particular from its direct airport access. Eurobike will be making its Frankfurt debut from 13 to 17 July 2022 at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds in the city centre. Stefan Reisinger: “Eurobike’s Frankfurt venue links it directly to urban spaces, offering the ideal conditions for strengthening and expanding the event.”

ZEG signs up to new Eurobike in Frankfurt

Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft (ZEG) to exhibit entire portfolio 2022, 2023 and 2024 at international bicycle trade show Eurobike Frankfurt

Friedrichshafen – Now that the Eurobike exhibition halls have closed for the last time in Friedrichshafen, the Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft (ZEG), one the industry’s major players, has made a clear and early commitment to the leading bike industry trade show in Frankfurt. The dealer group and purchasing cooperative will be exhibiting at the new Eurobike in 2022 with its full brand portfolio BULLS, PEGASUS, ZEMO, KETTLER Alu-Rad, HERCULES, FLYER, i:SY, EURORAD, SHAREA, MonkeyLink and WANDERER. The wide-ranging engagement is both long-term and exclusive.

By signing up to the new Eurobike, ZEG is making a strong commitment and sending a clear signal to the industry. As such, the ZEG will be at the premiere of the leading international bike trade show in Frankfurt next year from 13 to 17 July and in the following years 2023 and 2024. “We’re delighted by the ZEG’s clear, long-term focus and objectives. As a dealer group cooperative with approximately 960 independent bike retailers, the ZEG has a strong position with both sales and purchasing in the key German bike market. This is further confirmation from the bike industry that the new show orientation is on the right track. And underscores Eurobike’s importance – including in German-speaking markets – as the leading trade show for retail, media, politics and all bike enthusiasts,” says Head of EUROBIKE, Messe Friedrichshafen and Managing Director of fairnamic Stefan Reisinger.

ZEG chairman Georg Honkomp and chairman Fred Schierenbeck see it like this: “Eurobike is the most important international trade show and plays a vital role as a global industry platform. With the reorientation and new collaboration with the Eurobike makers, we see a great opportunity to further boost enthusiasm for sustainable transport and look forward to more direct communication with retailers and the general public. With our comprehensive product portfolio, our bike brands and by holding our annual general meeting and an evening event during the Eurobike in Frankfurt, we expect to generate considerable interest.”

BICO and Eurobike agree long-term trade fair partnership

BICO and Eurobike agree long-term trade fair partnership

Bike&Co (BICO) retailer community to take part in Eurobike in Frankfurt with its third-party suppliers – BICO order days and EUROBICO to be integrated into new fair concept

Friedrichshafen/Verl – Eurobike is enjoying prominent support for the leading trade fair as it moves towards the next level. One of the largest purchasing associations within the German bike industry, retailer community, Bike & Co (BICO), is committing to the new Eurobike show from 13 to 17 July 2022 in Frankfurt. BICO, a modern service provider for more than 850 independent retailers and over 130 brand suppliers, is signing up to the new Eurobike with a comprehensive involvement over a number of years. In future, the BICO ordering days and EUROBICO will form part of the new concept for the leading trade fair.

“Our latest collaboration during the EUROBICO premiere has shown that BICO and Eurobike are a good match and are generating new synergies for the benefit of the entire bike industry. Our new partnership represents the continuation of our shared success and a strong foundation for a broad display of innovations within the sector, as well as a high-quality exchange between experts as part of the future Eurobike,” reports Head of Eurobike and fairnamic Managing Director Stefan Reisinger, who welcomes the association’s strong commitment to the new conception of the industry summit.

The agreement has been planned with a view to the long term over a period of three years, up to and including 2024. BICO’s involvement in the trade fair extends across all five days of the event and also includes an evening event organised for the association itself. BICO Managing Director Jörg Müsse explains: “BICO is very keen to support the efforts to provide fresh impetus for a leading trade fair focusing on the topics of bikes and cycling. Frankfurt as a venue is centrally located and also readily accessible for international visitors. The concept behind the Eurobike 2022 trade fair is very promising, which makes it easy for us to take the decision of compacting the trade fair calendar in the interest of our specialist retailers. Sadly, though, it does mean that BICO will be bidding farewell to the very successful BIKE&CO order days. Nevertheless, we believe that an important central trade fair will be able to strengthen the high level of interest in our product and cannot fail to bring gains for the industry as a whole.”

The 30th edition of Eurobike will be premiering in its new location of Frankfurt am Main from Wednesday, 13 July until Sunday, 17 July 2022. For more information, please visit: www.eurobike.com.

Statements Eurobike 2021

Statements Eurobike 2021

Welcome address German Chancellor Angela Merkel:

“The fact that one of the first international trade shows to take place again in Germany is a meeting of the bicycle industry is a happy instance. After all, this industry has achieved higher sales growth and turnover during the pandemic and has been able to add considerably to its upward trend of recent years. This is a very positive development – especially for our inner cities and climate-friendly mobility.”

Burkhard Stork, Managing Director Zweirad Industrie Verband (German Bike Industry Association ZIV):

“Despite the challenging conditions, the Eurobike team has once again staged an outstanding industry gathering and successful international trade show. The ZIV member organisations spoke of high-quality, concentrated talks in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. In times like these especially, there is a lot to discuss and talk about. Above all though – the bicycle industry was finally able to meet up in a face-to-face setting again. As the last year for Eurobike at Lake Constance, a bridge has been built for the future of the show in Frankfurt. The time in Friedrichshafen was fantastic. We would like to thank the trade show organisers and the city of Friedrichshafen for these many excellent years. The importance of Eurobike for the unique development of the German and international bike business is something that cannot be stressed often enough. We’re delighted to continue the partnership at Eurobike 2022 in Frankfurt am Main.“

Bernhard Lange, Managing Partner Paul Lange & Co. OHG:

“Visitor footfall at our stand on both of the first two days met and also exceeded our expectations. After one and a half years of being restricted to remote contact via video conferences, telephone and e-mail, you could feel how much visitors, our customers and partners appreciated the opportunity that the show presented to meet again in person and exchange ideas and opinions directly within the industry. We received very positive feedback from our customers about our presence at Eurobike. Naturally, we feel somewhat sad at having to say goodbye to Friedrichshafen – we have been partners since the trade show first started at Lake Constance and greatly appreciate the warm welcome the region has always shown. Nevertheless, the move to one of Europe’s foremost metropolitan regions is the right way forward to restart as Eurobike 2.0 and meet the requirements of the bicycle industry as it becomes a leading driver of modern, sustainable mobility.”

Wilhelm Humpert, Managing Partner Ergotec:

“We’re very satisfied at Ergotec. The majority of our appointments took place. They were surprisingly international – something we didn’t expect. In addition, there are a lot of retailers here. All-in-all, the trade fair has been better than expected for us. Even if some exhibitors were not here, it has still been a very good show. We’re sad to have to say goodbye the lake!”

Erhard Büchel, Owner and Managing Director Büchel:

“It’s good to be back at a trade show. Direct customer contact is just completely different. Due to the supply situation, many bike manufacturers have nothing to exhibit or sell. We see this trade show as a component manufacturer’s show. As such, we have enjoyed greater attention and the quality of talks is very high. This is also because the issue of reshoring is playing a role. It was definitely worth coming to the show. Anyone not here is missing an opportunity. We feel sad about it being the last ever show in Friedrichshafen. I can understand why it is moving to Frankfurt, it’s clear that certain aspects will function better there. I will miss the opportunity to present bikes as a leisure object there. For me, this was always easy to do with the lakes and the mountains at Friedrichshafen.”

Alexandra Baum, CEO and Founder Texlock:

“This year’s Eurobike took place in very special circumstances. There were the effects of the coronavirus and it’s also the last time in Friedrichshafen. We decided to be more modest with our stand size, as we expected the fair to be less strongly frequented. Despite our expectations, we were really pleased with the very busy response. All our planned appointments went ahead and we met many visitors expressing concrete interest in us. This means that we are very satisfied with the fair. I think it’s brilliant that so many international visitors came, for example from Poland and Czechoslovakia.”

Alessandro Graser, CEO and Founder Cybro Industries:

“Eurobike was the first ever trade fair for Cybro – and it was very impressive. It’s superb, how many people have visited our stand, took pictures of our products and informed themselves about our bikes. We also had the opportunity to meet our suppliers in a great atmosphere during the show. Pre-orders for Cybro Bikes start now, so that we can begin production at the end of September. We’ve seen that trade fairs like Eurobike are very important for our brand, to make customers aware of Cybro, to get feedback and to write orders.”

Ulrich Prediger, Founder Jobrad:

“We were delighted that the trade show could take place with the appropriate health and safety measure in place. Once again, we enjoyed important talks with manufacturers, retailers and bike fans.” “We’ve enjoyed being part of Eurobike Friedrichshafen. Ever since Jobrad was founded, we have made a decisive step forward in our development each year at the show,” adds managing director Holger Tumat. “We’re going to miss the Lake Constance location, but are looking forwards to Eurobike 2022 in Frankfurt.”

Anja Knaus, Head of Communications, Flyer:

“We say goodbye to this beautiful trade show location here in Friedrichshafen and feel very sad about it. We’re going to miss the Swabian warmth and hospitality. However, we’re really excited about Frankfurt and the urban environment, and an infrastructure, which will probably make it easier for us as an exhibitor.”

Arne Behrensen, Managing Director Cargobike.jetzt:

“What timing! Right in time for Eurobike, cargo bikes are at the centre of a debate for the German elections. The Cargo Area excelled here by proving a unique overview of the current cargo bike market. From compact child transporters to the heavy-duty category with 500 kg load capacity – the whole range of models and the latest innovations were on show. The level of interest in expert information is enormous. Our four-hour “Cargo Bike @ Eurobike-Academy” programme on the Thursday was really well attended. There were some very lively discussions – a real highlight! Of course it would have been nice to see more visitors at the Cargo Area too. However, as it was, there was more time for more intensive discussions and test rides. We see major potential for the cargo topic at Frankfurt 2022. And not just because manufacturers in our European Cargo Bike Industry Survey are expecting market growth of 66% for 2021. In Frankfurt, the cargo bike revolution is already taking place on the roads and cycle paths – and Messe Frankfurt’s facilities surely offer capacity to further expand the Cargo Area.”

Luca Violetto, Marketing Wilier:

“Despite it being a complicated year for the bike industry, we’re very happy to be part of Eurobike. We enjoyed major media interest at our stand and had international customers, despite the circumstances. The trade show was particularly important for us as we launched a new product in cooperation with Shimano, who also exhibited.”

Mathias Plouvier, Managing Director Classified:

“It was our first ever Eurobike and we are really happy to be able to show our product here after seven years developing it. In particular, we are delighted about the Eurobike Gold Award. This recognition will trigger further future innovation.”

Dr Thomas Leicht, Head of e-Bike Drives Brose:

“We reached our goal to have very interesting discussions with customers and receive lots of positive feedback on our products. We had lots of visitors to our stand, and we booked around 200 rides per day on the test circuit on the open air grounds. Eurobike 2021 went really well – we’re very satisfied!”

Tamara Winograd, Head of Marketing and Communication Bosch eBike Systems:

“We’re really pleased that the entire bike industry could get together again this year after such a long time – although for the last time here at Lake Constance. We have so many great memories with Messe Friedrichshafen – but feel very positive about the new direction for Eurobike in the coming years. Frankfurt am Main is an important international trade show location with an excellent infrastructure. We welcome the move to the metropolis and are excited about the new, urban show concept.”

Roman Högerle, Public Relations MCG:

“Above all else, it was good to meet people again and be back at the show. We didn’t expect that our booth would be so busy or that so many people would be there. People were a bit unsure at first, but this feeling soon disappeared after the first day. I was totally booked out and received very positive feedback And, like others too, I also feel a bit wistful, as I have always enjoyed coming to Lake Constance. At the moment, it’s important to remain very flexible in all areas. This is why we are positive about the future.”

Doris Klytta, Head of Marketing & PR Ralf Bohle:

“Fundamentally, we’re very happy to back at Eurobike again. There was a lot of activity at our stand. It was a bit of a shame to have a more streamlined version of the show for the last Eurobike in Friedrichshafen. We’re looking forward to Frankfurt next year – we’re coming. In our opinion, it was the right decision to change to a more central location – to give new momentum to the idea of a leading international trade show.”

Guido Müller, Managing Director Busch + Müller:

“Day one and day two saw high levels of visitors when it comes to wholesale and OEM. Retail visitor numbers were lower than we expected.”

Dominik Voss, Content Manager Magura:

“In these Corona times, I think that many exhibitors, including us, came to Eurobike with lower expectations. These expectations were confounded. We had more visitors than we expected. We were busy the whole time and held very good discussions.”

Emil Norup, CEO Pentalock:

“We were very impressed by Eurobike. We were told to expect fewer visitors due to coronavirus, but the show went well and we met exactly the right people. It’s a shame, for example, that some people from China were not able to come, but we’re more than happy with the contacts we made with bike manufacturers, who are our target group. We far exceeded our targets for the trade show.”

Uwe Daniel, CEO Revonte Oy:

“We’re basically very happy with how things have gone, because we arranged 90 per cent of our appointments in advance. We move solely in the B2B sector, so we were meeting OEM customers. As such, quantity is relatively unimportant for us at the show. We just need to see a relatively small group of relevant people. All-in-all, the show was pretty relaxed. I think though that we only saw around 50 per cent of the people that we saw here two years ago. For travelling and infrastructure, this was maybe a good thing, but we missed a number of big brands and representatives, who didn’t even send a single colleague.”

Andre Fuchs, Key Account Manager Bafang:

“We’re very satisfied with the show, with our orders, and our supply times. We have no problems with delivery times of one to two years. Instead, we can deliver our goods in 90 days, because we were quick to react early. Overall, there was less going on due to corona, but we’re very happy with the number of visitors to our booth.”

Marcel Spork, Sales Manager SKS Germany:

“Our results from Eurobike 2021 are better than expected. So, as such, we are satisfied. We saw a good number of big customers, manufacturers and also retailers. We were very happy to have face-to-face contact again, after such a long break. We leave Friedrichshafen with sadness, but look forward to hopefully a stronger Eurobike 2022 in Frankfurt.”

Annalena Horsch, Managing Director Coboc:

“At first, we were sceptical about what would happen this year, but ultimately were are very satisfied. Compared to last year, there were fewer talks with customers; however they were of a very high quality. In particular, it was great for the team to see customers “live” again and pick up feedback from the market.”

Rob van Wijngaarden, Account Manager Widek:

“We’re very happy with that we decide to come here, despite being unsure at first. The show went well for us, maybe even better than previous years. Because everything was a bit smaller than usual, we had more time for talks with our customers.”

Bastian Müller, Founder GRDXKN:

“Eurobike met our expectations – despite the situation with corona. The start-up had a good location and saw lots of visitors. We had international visitors and plenty of interest at our stand. The Eurobike Award brought us additional attention and – as it functions as an extension of the presentation area – is helpful for start-ups.”

Mauro Carminati, Axevo Technology:

“Eurobike was very different his year. However, despite all the changes, we interacted successfully with the public. Before we came, we did worry that visitor numbers would not be sufficient. They were actually down on previous years, but this was foreseeable, especially when you think how difficult it is to travel at present and that there are big brands missing. As far as start-ups are concerned, we’re really proud of our Eurobike Award. We hope that this victory will bring us growth and success in future.”

Eurobike impresses with internationality, atmosphere and vision

Eurobike presents bike mega trend – 18,770 trade visitors and 13,424 bike fans – international participation exceeds expectations – support for future show concept
Friedrichshafen – The massive enthusiasm for cycling is mobilising the bike industry and bike fans. At the 29th edition of the leading trade show Eurobike, this even exceeded the expectations of the participants. Klaus Wellmann, CEO Messe Friedrichshafen summarised as the show closed on Saturday: “With four days of high visitor numbers, Eurobike 2021 was a big success. Despite numerous challenges, we were positively surprised by the significant international presence. In sunny weather and a positive atmosphere, there was strong business drive, further underling the enormous potential for bicycles.” A total of 630 exhibitors from 68 countries and 18,770 trade visitors attended the show, while 13,424 consumers came to the two Eurobike Festival Days as the show said farewell to Lake Constance. To widespread support, the leading bike trade show unveiled its further details of the new concept for Frankfurt 2022.

In her welcome address, German chancellor Angela Merkel described the happy instance that it is the bicycle industry as it meets at one of the first international trade shows to take place again in Germany. “After all, this industry has achieved higher sales growth and turnover during the pandemic and has been able to add considerably to its upward trend of recent years. This is a very positive development – especially for our inner cities and climate-friendly mobility.”

Correspondingly, the importance of face-to-face meetings was clearly demonstrated at Eurobike. Diverse challenges, including supply chain issues in all parts of the value chain, train strikes in Germany and restricted international travel did not prevent visitors from making their way to Friedrichshafen. “We were really pleased and surprised to see how many international visitors attended the show – far more than expected, especially from manufacturing,” says Head of Eurobike, Stefan Reisinger. In addition to the DACH region comprising Austria, Germany and Switzerland, there were high numbers of visitors from Eastern Europe and Southern Europe. Furthermore, the show welcomed trade visitors from the United States, the Middle East and Asia.

We’re delighted to continue the partnership at Eurobike 2022 in Frankfurt am Main,” explains Burkhard Stork, Managing Director German Bike Industry Association (ZIV).

With the numerous accompanying conferences, including the sold-out Bike Biz Revolution prior to the show, the Eurobike Academy, Travel Talk, and the fully-booked Start-Up Area, 36 Eurobike Award products and some 1,000 test bikes in the Demo Area, the Eurobike 2021 supporting programme certainly managed to impress. One in five visitors took advantage of the test course to try out next season’s models.

The Eurobike Festival Days offered infotainment showcasing the latest bike trends on the Friday and Saturday and attracted 13,424 bike enthusiasts to Lake Constance. They saw impressive performances from international stars of the trial and BMX scene, enjoyed numerous test ride opportunities, and gathered information about international bike tourism offers at Holiday on Bike. “For two days, the industry celebrated bikes in style with all bike fans. There was a very good response, and we were able to create positive energy to get more people on bikes,” explained a delighted Dirk Heidrich, Eurobike Show Director. “The Festival Days are very important to the industry and to us as well – which is why we intend to expand them in future.”

Bernhard Lange, managing partner of Paul Lange & Co. OHG approves of the trade show’s future course: “Visitor footfall at our stand on both of the first two days met and also exceeded our expectations.

The new show concept for next year was released before Eurobike 2021. In 2022, the 30th edition of this leading trade show will take place from Wednesday, 13 July to Sunday 17 July in Frankfurt. “This move represents a huge opportunity. In addition to established topics, there will be new themes and we look forward to widespread interest and further support for the new future direction,” says Stefan Reisinger.

Capabilities on show: The cutting edge lidar systems for industrial applications

Lidar specialist Ouster is displaying its OS series of sensors, which it says are unique in their ability to offer over 75 SKUs with just three sensors – the OS0, OS1 and OS2 – all built on a single digital architecture.
Digital lidar greatly improves upon analog lidar in size, weight, form factor, power efficiency and weather resistance. Ouster’s OS sensors offer up to 128 channels of resolution for short-, mid- and long-range along with ultra-wide vertical field-of-view and shorter minimum range configurations to support a wide variety of industrial applications.

Eric Gurny, technical sales director, EMEA, explained that the company’s lidar are being adopted across a range of equipment, from earthmovers to cranes. “It is a mixture of automation and safety,” he noted. “Some people want to automate processes, such as handling containers. Others are looking for safety applications, but often, it is both on the same machines.”

Ouster’s newest OS hardware release, Rev 06, is powered by its new L2X chip and equipped with the latest firmware, which offers full dual return capabilities and doubles the signal processing power of all its OS sensors for superior 3D perception through fog, rain, dust and snow. Richer point cloud data coupled with IP68/69K ruggedness and automotive-grade shock and vibe specifications enable Ouster’s sensors to deliver high-performance 3D perception in all weather and terrain conditions, making them the most rugged and reliable it has ever designed. Furthermore, its sensors now come as standard with both 12V and 24V power compatibility, ensuring seamless retrofit of sensors into existing industrial equipment for improved safety and task automation.

Find the ideal battery combination for your industrial vehicle applications

Finnish technology company Proventia has its latest battery technology for industrial vehicle applications on display. The ePRO500+ is based on the same modular construction as the company’s smaller battery product, the ePRO48. ePRO500+ offers flexible tailoring of capacity and voltage to meet the strictest demands of hybrid and fully electric off-road machinery. The Proventia battery platform is based on lithium titanate oxide (LTO) technology, which has proved to be the optimal solution for power-intensive applications. LTO battery technology’s benefits in off-road usage range from a wide temperature window (from -30°C to +60°C) to a long lifetime and a high level of safety. LTO batteries have high discharge rates as well.

“The lithium titanate chemistry is designed to last for the lifetime of a machine,” explained Pekka Ranta, development engineer at Proventia. “Manufacturers are looking for a balance between power and capacity for each application. You have to be very precise when selecting the right battery for your applications. The lithium titanate batteries are ideal for industrial applications, especially where you have things like peak shaving, either in hybrid- or grid-powered vehicles.”

The Proventia ePRO500+ features robust mechanical construction that, combined with the most durable packaging, means it lasts in rough conditions where these machines are often used. The platform enables the implementation of power- and energy-specific variants with nominal voltage from 48V up to 800V. In hybrid applications, it can be used to cover peak power demands, meaning the combustion engine can be run at optimal efficiency, leading to lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. In full electric applications, ePRO500+ enables zero-emission operation.
