September 03, 2026 – Juno Beach -- Florida Power & Light Company has launched a new online Assistance Center that consolidates bill-help programs, federal aid options and local nonprofit resources into a single searchable hub at FPL.com/Assistance.
The centerpiece is FPL Saving Steps, a new program that teaches income-qualified customers practical ways to cut everyday energy use. Participants who complete the program can earn a one-time $200 credit toward a future electric bill.
FPL says the new hub aims to make bill support easier to find during peak summer heat
Dawn Nichols, FPL's vice president of customer service, said the Assistance Center is meant to give customers clear, practical options whether they need immediate help or want to lower future bills, including access to resources for medical bills, rent or mortgage assistance. She added that customers who don't qualify for government aid should still check their eligibility for Saving Steps.
Multiple short-term relief programs are bundled into the center
The hub highlights FPL's Payment Extension for temporary flexibility, the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), FPL's Care To Share emergency bill-payment assistance, the Bill Extender for a later due date, and Budget Billing, which smooths seasonal cost swings into a predictable monthly amount.
Efficiency tools offer ongoing savings beyond one-time credits
FPL On Call provides bill credits exceeding $90 a year for customers willing to briefly pause certain appliances during peak demand periods. The free Energy Manager tool delivers personalized usage insights, while the Community Energy Saver program offers energy-efficient home upgrades to qualifying households.
A nonprofit directory extends help beyond electric bills
The Assistance Center includes a searchable directory of local nonprofits and community organizations, powered by the social-service referral platform Findhelp, covering needs such as food, transportation and rent or mortgage assistance. Findhelp founder and CEO Erine Gray said the partnership builds "critical social care infrastructure" alongside FPL's physical grid, connecting customers to local relief when they need it.
