September 03, 2026 – Juno Beach, Fla. -- Florida Power & Light Company has launched an online Assistance Center that helps customers find bill help, energy-saving programs and local support in one place.
The centerpiece is FPL Saving Steps, a new program for income-qualified customers that teaches ways to cut everyday energy use. Customers who complete the program can receive a one-time $200 credit toward a future FPL bill.
FPL rolls out the center as summer heat pushes bills higher
Dawn Nichols, FPL's vice president of customer service, said the tool is meant to make support easier to find, whether customers need help today, want to lower future bills, or need assistance with other costs like medical bills, rent or mortgage payments. She added that customers who don't qualify for government aid should check whether they qualify for Saving Steps.
Short-term relief programs give customers more time to pay
The Assistance Center highlights FPL's Payment Extension for short-term flexibility and Bill Extender, which pushes back due dates for eligible customers. Care To Share offers emergency bill-payment assistance or help with qualified electrical repairs for those facing temporary hardship. Federal LIHEAP funds are also listed for income-qualified households, alongside FPL Budget Billing, which smooths seasonal bill swings into steadier monthly payments.
Energy-saving tools can cut costs long-term
FPL On Call gives participants more than $90 a year in bill credits for briefly pausing certain appliances during peak demand periods. The free Energy Manager tool delivers personalized recommendations based on a customer's home. The Community Energy Saver program provides energy-efficient home upgrades to qualifying households.
A searchable directory connects customers to local nonprofits
Beyond electric bills, the center includes a directory of nonprofits and community organizations for needs like food, transportation, and rent or mortgage assistance. The directory runs on Findhelp, a social-service referral platform. Findhelp founder and CEO Erine Gray said the company is proud to power the directory, comparing it to building "critical social care infrastructure" alongside FPL's physical power grid.
