This news comes just four months ahead of the 17th Ordinary EHF Congress, set to take place on September 19–20, 2025, in Andau, Austria.

Wiederer, a 69-year-old Austrian and longtime figure in the sport, shared the news in a heartfelt letter to the EHF’s 50 member federations, emphasizing unity, communication, and continued progress as the foundation of his leadership vision.

A leader shaped by experience and continuity

Wiederer's journey with the EHF began in 1992 as Secretary General, a role he held for over two decades before becoming President in 2016. He succeeded Jean Brihault of France and was reaffirmed in office at the 2021 Congress in Vienna.
