NXP and Rimac Unveil Powerful New Vehicle Control System for Future-Ready Cars

Submitted by newsonline24.c… on
NXP and Rimac Unveil Powerful New Vehicle Control System for Future-Ready Cars
SHERIDAN, WYOMING – September 23, 2025 – In a move that promises to simplify and supercharge the future of driving, NXP Semiconductors and Rimac Technology have teamed up to develop a cutting-edge vehicle control architecture designed specifically for software-defined vehicles (SDVs). At the heart of this innovation lies NXP’s powerful S32E2 processor platform—aimed at making cars smarter, more efficient, and easier to build.

Centralized control that simplifies complexity

Modern cars are essentially high-powered computers on wheels. But with dozens of electronic control units (ECUs) packed in, managing them all can get complicated fast. That’s where the new architecture from NXP and Rimac comes in. By combining Rimac’s performance expertise with NXP’s automotive-grade processors, the solution allows manufacturers to reduce the number of ECUs from more than 20 down to just three centralized units.

Instead of relying on traditional microcontrollers or duplicating hardware for every application, the S32E2 processor handles it all in one compact package. With eight high-speed Arm Cortex-R52 cores and up to 64MB of non-volatile memory, it delivers both raw power and smart design.

“The NXP platform allows developers to quickly implement SDV features for advanced real-time applications. The S32E2 enables the efficient integration of numerous applications within an easy-to-debug environment, where task isolation and determinism are inherent to the design,” explained Ray Cornyn, SVP and general manager, automotive processors at NXP.

Smarter, cleaner, and more efficient

This leap forward in design means more than just fewer parts under the hood. The centralized architecture brings real benefits for consumers and carmakers alike:

  • Less vehicle weight means better fuel efficiency or battery range.
  • Streamlined integration reduces production costs.
  • Improved thermal and energy management enhances reliability and comfort.
  • Built-in safety features meet the strict ISO 26262 ASIL D standards.

“With NXP’s S32E2 real-time processors, we found the ideal high-performance and automotive-grade solution that allows us to integrate several units into a single domain controller, reducing complexity and material costs for automotive OEMs while significantly increasing computational power,” said Ana Martinčić Špoljarić, business unit director for powertrain and electronics at Rimac Technology.

Hypercar ready—and beyond

The collaboration between NXP and Rimac is already hitting the road, quite literally. Rimac Technology confirmed it plans to use this new ECU platform in its hypercar program, where performance and efficiency are non-negotiable. But the vision goes further: scaling the solution to other vehicle segments and even new forms of mobility in the future.

Built for safety and security from the ground up

In today’s connected vehicles, cybersecurity and reliability are top priorities. The S32E2 platform is equipped with advanced safety features like core-to-pin isolation for fault protection and a hardware security engine for secure boot and key management—ensuring peace of mind for drivers and manufacturers alike.

An ecosystem to accelerate the future

The S32E2 is just one part of NXP’s broader S32 automotive platform. Alongside it, NXP offers a suite of supporting technologies—from power management chips like the FS86 and PF5030, to high-voltage inverters and battery controllers—to help automakers roll out next-generation vehicle architectures faster and more efficiently.

TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 2025 Delivers Unmatched Festival Atmosphere for Handball Fans

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Sep. 23, 2025 – The TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 2025 turned Cologne’s iconic LANXESS arena into a spectacular celebration of handball, setting new records in fan attendance and event experience. Held on June 14 and 15, this year's edition of Europe’s premier handball club event offered more than just high-octane matches—it delivered a full weekend of entertainment and innovation that thrilled fans from across the continent.

With over 20,000 spectators filling the arena for the first time in the event’s history, the 2025 edition redefined what it means to experience top-tier sports. From immersive light shows to interactive fan zones and the most extensive digital coverage ever seen in handball, attendees were treated to a 360-degree celebration both on and off the court.

A record-breaking crowd and unforgettable entertainment

Fans were welcomed into a dynamic festival atmosphere that began long before the first match. The 'Road to the Trophy' kicked off Friday with the grand opening of the fan village just outside the arena. Visitors were drawn in by:

  • Sky-high views from the TruckScout24 balloon crane
  • A relaxing holiday zone by the Croatian and Istrian Tourist Boards
  • Skill games and digital goal walls from Modular Systems
  • A quirky, oversized tumble dryer experience by Gorenje
  • Photo ops with the MOL Selfie Cam and SELECT’s match ball challenge

Inside the arena, the excitement soared with cutting-edge opening shows designed by the Hallgrimson Entertainment Group. Each match began with dramatic lighting, visuals, and synchronized music, turning every moment into a shared experience through interactive LED wristbands distributed to all fans.

World-class handball thrills on court

The heart of the weekend was, of course, the four exhilarating handball matches. Saturday's semi-finals saw 2024 champions Barça clash with 2023 winners SC Magdeburg, while Füchse Berlin returned for their first appearance since 2012 to face HBC Nantes. The tournament brought together fierce rivals, returning champions, and rising stars, all determined to leave their mark on Europe’s biggest stage.

“With more than 20,000 fans in the LANXESS arena and an unprecedented entertainment and media setup, this year’s edition raises the bar for what club handball can deliver on and off the court,” said David Szlezak, Managing Director of EHF Marketing.

Broadcasting the energy to the world

The event didn’t stop at the arena’s doors. With more than 40 cameras in action—including a 25-camera main TV feed—the TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 2025 became the largest TV and digital production in the history of the EHF Champions League. Fans at home enjoyed not only the games, but exclusive backstage interviews, player reactions, and the electric crowd atmosphere via EHFTV’s integrated stream and FanTV.

Young talent shares the spotlight

In an inspiring move, this year's tournament also included the EHF Youth Club Trophy. Under-18 teams from HC Eurofarm Pelister, GOG, Barça, and Veszprém Handball Academy competed for glory, with the final hosted at LANXESS arena. It was a powerful nod to the next generation of talent and a reminder that the future of European handball is bright.

A celebration that raised the bar

The TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 2025 was not just a sports event—it was a celebration of community, creativity, and the passion that unites fans worldwide. With a flawless blend of top-level competition, immersive entertainment, and fan-first experiences, this year’s edition left a lasting impression and raised expectations for the future of handball.

Nescafé Exceeds 2025 Goal for Regenerative Coffee Farming, Empowering Farmers and the Planet

Submitted by newsonline24.c… on
Nescafé Exceeds 2025 Goal for Regenerative Coffee Farming, Empowering Farmers and the Planet
SHERIDAN, WYOMING – September 23, 2025 – In a major win for both coffee lovers and the environment, Nescafé has officially surpassed its 2025 target for sourcing coffee grown with regenerative agriculture methods—an achievement that signals real progress for a more sustainable future in your morning cup.

According to the newly released Nescafé Plan 2030 Progress Report, 32% of Nescafé’s coffee was sourced from farmers practicing regenerative agriculture in 2024—well above the original 20% target for 2025. From composting and soil cover to mulching and optimized fertilization, these sustainable methods are delivering benefits to farmers and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in coffee production.

Helping Coffee Farmers Thrive, Naturally

Behind every delicious cup of Nescafé is a growing network of farmers adopting eco-friendly practices that support soil health and resilience. Through its global initiative, Nescafé is helping farmers transition to regenerative techniques that not only preserve their land but also improve yields and reduce long-term costs.

"Regenerative agriculture is at the heart of the Nescafé Plan and our efforts to build resilience in our coffee supply chain. This third Progress Report shows that farmers are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of these practices, as shown by the increased adoption rates. This encourages us to continue the work we do with our partners, suppliers and farmers in the regions where we source our coffee," said Axel Touzet, Head of Nestlé's Coffee Brands Strategic Business Unit.

Greener Beans, Lower Emissions

One of the standout results from the 2024 program was the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions—between 20% and 40% per kilogram of green coffee among participating farms. This not only makes your coffee more planet-friendly but also helps protect the supply chain from future climate challenges, which have already caused global coffee prices to spike.

As part of the effort, Nescafé distributed 21 million coffee plantlets to help rejuvenate aging farms and improve productivity—a smart move for sustainability and farm profitability alike.

Training and Empowerment for a Stronger Future

To support this transition, Nescafé trained over 200,000 coffee farmers in 16 countries last year with the help of 1,400+ agronomists and field staff. These experts assist farmers with critical topics like soil erosion prevention, organic matter management, and fertilizer optimization—ensuring that regenerative agriculture is accessible and effective.

Through strategic partnerships, like the one with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and its Coffee++ Project, farmers are gaining essential business skills. Using the Farmer Business Schools approach, growers learn how to diversify, boost yields, and manage finances more effectively.

Regeneration That Pays Off

According to a study by TechnoServe, funded by partners including Nestlé and Nespresso, regenerative coffee farming has the potential to significantly increase farmer incomes while lowering environmental impacts. The study found that an annual investment of $500–600 million in regenerative agriculture could yield:

  • Over $2 billion in additional farmer income
  • Up to $2.6 billion in added coffee exports
  • As much as 3.5 million metric tons of CO₂e abated annually

"We are proud to have worked alongside Nestlé and the other partners on this study. As a result of this effort, we have the data to show that regenerative agriculture is not only good for nature, but essential for farmer livelihoods and the future of the coffee industry," said Paul Stewart, Global Coffee Director at TechnoServe. "We hope it will inspire greater investment from governments and the private sector to scale-up regenerative coffee production around the world."

Brewing a More Resilient Coffee Future

With climate change posing growing threats to coffee production, Nescafé’s commitment to regenerative agriculture is a powerful step toward securing a steady, high-quality coffee supply—while helping farmers build a better livelihood.

Through the Nescafé Plan, Nestlé continues to invest in long-term sustainability, making every cup of coffee more meaningful—from farm to mug.

Wayve and Uber Drive Toward an Autonomous Future with London Road Trials

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Sep. 23, 2025 – Londoners may soon hail a ride without a driver at the wheel, thanks to a new partnership between Wayve and Uber that brings Level 4 (L4) autonomous vehicle trials to the UK’s bustling capital. This collaboration marks the largest announced AV trial market for Uber and signals a major leap toward everyday autonomous mobility.

Wayve’s Embodied AI platform will power the initiative, blending cutting-edge AI with Uber’s global mobility network to explore how autonomous vehicles can navigate one of the world’s most complex urban environments.

Testing the Future on London Streets

Navigating London’s dense traffic, unique road layouts, and varied traffic rules offers a formidable challenge for self-driving tech—one that Wayve and Uber are eager to tackle.

The UK government’s recent move to fast-track commercial pilot frameworks for self-driving vehicles adds urgency and momentum to the project. Wayve and Uber are working closely with both Transport for London and the UK Department for Transport to secure the necessary permits and approvals before launch.

Bold Steps Toward Scalable Autonomy

For Wayve, this trial is not just a milestone—it’s a mission in motion. As CEO and co-founder Alex Kendall put it, “This is a defining moment for UK autonomy. With Uber and a global OEM partner, we’re preparing to put our AI Driver technology into real service on the streets of London, delivering on our AV2.0 vision for scalable autonomy. Our Embodied AI learns to drive anywhere, in any vehicle, and this trial brings us closer to bringing safe and intelligent driving to everyday rides across the UK and beyond.”

Uber’s leadership echoes the enthusiasm. “We’re excited to take the next step in our journey with Wayve, bringing autonomous mobility to one of the world’s busiest and most complex urban environments,” said Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer of Uber. “Wayve’s globally scalable AV2.0 approach makes them an ideal partner to bring Uber’s autonomous vision to reality in new cities around the world. Our vision is to make autonomy a safe and reliable option for riders everywhere, and this trial in London brings that future closer to reality.”

A National Boost for Innovation and Jobs

The UK government is optimistic about the partnership’s broader benefits. “The agreement, between two leading names at the forefront of the sector, is a fantastic vote of confidence in this new technology,” said Heidi Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport. “By fast-tracking pilots of self-driving vehicles to spring 2026, we are excited to see safety-first tests that will drive growth, create 38,000 jobs and add £42bn [US$57bn] to our economy.”

AI That Learns Like a Human

Wayve’s Embodied AI doesn’t just follow a script—it learns from experience, adapting to new vehicles, road conditions, and traffic patterns in real time. This flexibility was demonstrated impressively in the company’s recent Global Roadshow, where one AI Driver navigated 90 cities across Europe, North America, and Japan in just 90 days.

Kendall explained, “We drove through Tokyo, Milan and Montana, all with the same AI model. That’s the power of AV2.0. It’s what gives us the confidence to launch a driverless ride-hailing service with Uber, starting in London and expanding to other cities around the world.”

Next Steps on the Road to Autonomy

The partnership between Wayve and Uber was first announced in 2024, focusing on integrating Wayve’s AI into Uber’s fleet. With this next phase, the collaboration moves from planning to practice, with real-world trials on UK roads.

While details about the automotive manufacturing partner and specific trial start dates are still to come, consumers can look forward to seeing autonomous ride-hailing roll out in the UK as early as 2026.

Design Legends Honored: Hyundai Motor Group Leaders Win Automotive News Centennial Awards
SHERIDAN, WYOMING – September 23, 2025 – Hyundai Motor Group’s design vision has just received global recognition, with three of its most influential figures being honored at the prestigious Automotive News Centennial Awards in Turin, Italy. The awards, celebrating 100 years of Automotive News, recognized Luc Donckerwolke, Peter Schreyer, and legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro for their lasting contributions to automotive design excellence.

Celebrating visionaries who redefined automotive design

Luc Donckerwolke, President, Chief Design Officer, and Chief Creative Officer of Hyundai Motor Group, was lauded for his leadership and innovative spirit that continues to shape the creative direction of the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands. Known for pushing design boundaries and emphasizing human-centered innovation, Donckerwolke shared his appreciation for the award with the teams that support his creative journey.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Donckerwolke. “This recognition is a testament to Hyundai Motor Group’s belief in design as a driving force for innovation and identity. I share this award with all the talented teams that inspire me every day and work relentlessly to challenge the status quo.”

Donckerwolke’s design career spans decades, with past roles at prestigious automakers like Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley. He joined Hyundai Motor Group in 2016, becoming a central force in crafting its global design strategy.

Peter Schreyer’s bold legacy at Kia and Hyundai

Peter Schreyer, now an executive design advisor and brand ambassador, was also honored for his transformative work, particularly his role in redefining Kia’s global design identity with the bold ‘tiger nose’ grille. Schreyer's leadership extended across Hyundai Motor Group’s SUV lineup and luxury Genesis brand, helping establish their design excellence on the world stage.

“It is an incredible honor to receive this award. It belongs to the many creative and dedicated teams I’ve had the privilege to work with – and to Hyundai Motor Group for its unwavering belief in the power of design to drive meaningful progress and change,” said Schreyer.

Since retiring at the end of 2023, Schreyer has continued to mentor the next generation of automotive designers through partnerships with the Royal College of Art.

A timeless tribute to Giorgetto Giugiaro

The ceremony also honored Giorgetto Giugiaro, the iconic Italian designer behind the original Hyundai Pony and Pony Coupe concept. Celebrated as a key inspiration for both Donckerwolke and Schreyer, Giugiaro’s legacy began in the 1970s and has remained a foundational influence on Hyundai's design evolution.

A proud moment for Hyundai and the global design community

KC Crain, President and CEO of Crain Communications, emphasized the impact of these design leaders during the ceremony: “Peter Schreyer and Luc Donckerwolke have helped redefine what modern automotive design means – not just for Hyundai Motor Group, but for the entire industry. Their bold creativity and leadership have elevated the role of design as a strategic force, and their legacy is reflected in vehicles recognized around the world for both their beauty and innovation. We are proud to honor them with Automotive News Centennial Awards for their extraordinary contributions.”
