Detroit – October 16, 2026 -- Detroit-area homeowners can avoid costly water heater repairs and lost hot water by preparing before the first fall freeze, according to heating and cooling company C & C Heating & Air Conditioning.

Water heaters run year-round, but colder weather adds risk. Units and connecting pipes in garages, basements or other unheated spaces are most exposed. During prolonged cold spells, exposed plumbing can freeze, which may damage pipes and interrupt hot water service.

A professional tune-up can catch problems early

C & C General Manager Dayna Hottle recommends an annual professional inspection and tune-up. In her view, it helps identify problems early and extends the lifespan of a water heater.

Georges Mills, N.H. – October 16, 2026 -- Men with wide feet can now buy camo sneakers built for their fit: STOKE Shoes and Realtree have released a limited-edition collection, available now at STOKE Shoes and Murdoch's while quantities last.

Four wide-fit silhouettes get two Realtree patterns

The collection pairs Realtree's Original and APX camouflage patterns with four STOKE silhouettes: the FO-MO, VERSA, FO-MO TACTICAL, and VERSA 2MILER. Across the two patterns, there are eight SKUs in total.

Each pair combines stretch nylon, stretch mesh, and PU leather or nubuck overlays with STOKE's wide-fit construction. STOKE engineers its sneakers in wide and wider fits only, with a roomier fit, generous toe boxes, and cushioning designed for all-day comfort.

New York – October 16, 2026 -- Hot sleepers who wake up sweaty at 3 a.m. have a new mattress to consider: Expert Consumers has named the Sleep Number ClimateCool a top choice in its review of the best cooling mattresses, citing up to 15 degrees of active cooling on each side of the bed.

Airflow removes heat instead of just feeling cool

The 12-inch ClimateCool moves air through the bed to carry warmth away from the body. Cooling gel layers and breathable materials support that airflow. Many cooling mattresses rely on breathable covers or cooling foams alone, which can make the bed feel cooler but do not keep removing heat as the night goes on, according to the review.

Seattle – October 16, 2026 -- Holland America Line is adding Bar 1873 to Oosterdam, a two-story atrium bar with cocktails, live piano and a three-meter illuminated tulip sculpture, and bookings are now open for cruises aboard the transformed ship.

The bar debuts as part of Holland America Evolution, the cruise line's fleet update. Oosterdam also gets a reimagined Crow's Nest with expanded live music.

A glowing tulip anchors the Deck 2 atrium

London-based design firm SMC built Bar 1873 around Oosterdam's central atrium on Deck 2. The three-meter tulip sculpture, inspired by the Netherlands' national flower and the line's signature orange tulip, is visible from several vantage points and casts patterns of light across the space.

More than 200 heritage and repurposed objects, bespoke artwork and a visual timeline of the company's history surround it. Vintage-style maps and custom artwork add Dutch cultural and maritime touches.

The phone has a 50MP main camera with Pro Photo Mode. It also supports NFC, Dual SIM and expandable storage. NUU says it can connect on compatible networks in the U.S. and beyond its borders.

Five stores in under a year, around 10 planned

Lavazza opened its first Hong Kong store in Central last November. It has since grown to five locations, mostly in premium office towers and shopping destinations in Central and Causeway Bay. The company plans to double that to around 10 stores in the coming months.

The newest store, at Cheung Kong Center II, features an installation of the Lavazza Carmencita moka pot. Italian designer Marco Zanuso created the pot for Lavazza in 1979, and it is known for its conical shape and heat-resistant handle.

Polk hand-picks and builds every Cardle spot himself. The puzzles mix bluffs, spots that look like bluffs but are actually checks, and different sizings for value. After each hand, players get a short breakdown of the decision that shows both the raw solver output and Polk's own recommendation. The company calls it the Wordle for poker.

Fort Lauderdale – October 15, 2026 -- Adults shopping for autoflower cannabis seeds online now have an updated 2026 buyer's guide from Homegrown Cannabis Co. It covers genetics, seed selection, supplier transparency and what to review before choosing a seed company.

Autoflowers flower by age, not by light

Photoperiod cannabis plants begin flowering when the light cycle changes. Autoflower plants carry ruderalis genetics, so they flower based on age instead. According to the guide, most varieties finish in about seven to 11 weeks from seed and stay compact. That makes them a practical fit for small spaces and beginner growers.

Five details the guide says a good listing should include

The company says buyers comparing seed listings should look for:
