SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 5, 2025 – "assemblean," a spin-off from the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the University of Paderborn, Germany, has successfully closed a €1.8 million seed funding round. The investment was led by venture capital firms b2venture and Archimedes New Ventures, along with business angels from the Teuto Seed Club. This funding will enable "assemblean" to validate its business model, further develop its product, and finance its market entry. The startup received support from garage33, the University of Paderborn's startup center, during its spin-off process. The foundation for "assemblean" was laid during Yang's and Pöhler's research on decentralized production control within the "Product Creation" department, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Iris Gräßler at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute in Paderborn.

Automating Supply Chain Management and Production Processes

"assemblean" offers a digital platform that automates supply chain management and production processes for businesses across various industries. From sourcing components to assembling complex parts, the startup provides comprehensive production services that reduce costs, shorten lead times, and simplify manufacturing processes. The new capital will be used to further develop "assemblean's" platform, streamline complex supply chain processes, and offer additional cost-efficient production solutions. Additionally, processes will be scaled to serve a growing customer base, ranging from small startups to large corporations.

"Making Production as Easy as Possible"

"Our mission is to make production as easy as possible for our customers," says Pöhler. Yang adds, "We are delighted to have found a new investor in b2venture who supports our mission. This enables us to open up new possibilities to develop products with our infrastructure." As a company based in Paderborn, "assemblean" contributes to strengthening Germany as one of the leading countries in industrial production by leveraging local talent and the partnership with the University of Paderborn to develop innovations in supply chain automation and manufacturing technologies. "With our visionary approach, we want to position ourselves as a key player in shaping the future of digital production," says Yang.
