SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 7, 2025 – The gender health gap is a stark reality: although women make up around 50 percent of the world's population, most medical studies still focus on the physics and needs of men. Women are often confronted with particular health challenges due to diverse physical and hormonal processes.
The WOMEN'S HEALTH TEST by LYKON contributes to closing this gap by providing women with uncomplicated insights into femhealth-specific biomarkers.
"With so much contradictory information and advice on how women can improve their well-being, you often feel lost. The Women's Health Test gives women the opportunity to take their health into their own hands."
Dr. Natalie Herrmann, gynecologist, hormone specialist and member of the German Menopause Society
Introducing the WOMEN'S HEALTH TEST
The WOMEN'S HEALTH TEST provides detailed information on hormonal health, energy levels, and general well-being. Using a blood sample easily taken at home and then analyzed by one of LYKON's partner laboratories, nine different biomarkers are evaluated, which have a proven impact on female well-being.
The analysis allows for the early detection of hormonal imbalances (e.g., due to thyroid problems) or low/high blood values. Based on these statements, users can proactively influence their well-being by specifically addressing the values that are not in the optimal range.
What is being tested?
As part of the WOMEN'S HEALTH TEST, a total of nine markers are examined, which can affect various health aspects: ferritin, transferrin, TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), testosterone, DHEA-S, LH (luteinizing hormone), FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), homocysteine and prolactin.
Good to know: The test should ideally be carried out between the 3rd and 6th day of the cycle to ensure the most unadulterated results possible.
The test is not suitable for women who use hormonal contraceptives, as these affect natural hormone levels.
How it works
- Order the test kit (which will then be delivered directly to your home within a few days)
- Blood collection (a few drops of blood from the fingertip - quite easy and painless)
- Return (the sample is sent to the partner laboratory in the postage-paid envelope)
- Receive results (convenient, understandable insights in the LYKON app)
- Individual recommendations (tailored nutritional and action recommendations to specifically optimize your health)
Elevate Your Everyday Life: How Biomarkers Can Affect Your Health
Energy and fatigue
Ferritin & transferrin are largely responsible for the storage and transport of iron: for example, a low ferritin level often leads to fatigue, weakness and low endurance, while conspicuous transferrin values can indicate problems in iron metabolism. Likewise, a high homocysteine level can contribute to cardiovascular problems and a low energy level.
☝🏼 In women, the risk of iron deficiency (e.g., due to menstruation) is increased.
Thyroid function and metabolism
An imbalance in the TSH level can lead to an over- or under-function of the thyroid gland, which affects energy, metabolism, weight, mood and temperature regulation.
☝🏼 Women are more susceptible to thyroid diseases, which is why TSH tests are particularly important to ensure regular "thyroid check-ins."
Hormonal balance
The concentration of LH and FSH plays a major role in the female hormone balance: an imbalance can, for example, lead to an irregular cycle. An increased prolactin level can also disrupt the hormonal balance - this can be regulated by various factors such as stress, sleep behavior or diet.
☝🏼 Through the menstrual cycle or menopause, the female body is constantly subject to hormonal fluctuations: it is all the more important to regularly check the status of the decisive hormones to understand how the changes affect mood, metabolism and energy.
Sexual wellbeing and libido
The sex hormones testosterone and DHEA affect libido and our general mood: for example, a low testosterone level can lead to reduced desire, little energy and mood swings.
Stress and wellbeing
DHEA, known as the "anti-aging" hormone, supports stress management, immune function and general wellbeing. A balanced level contributes to stress reduction and improved mood.
Bone and cardiovascular health
An increased homocysteine level is often associated with cardiovascular diseases and (lack of) bone health.
Mental health and mood
An imbalance in thyroid and sex hormones (testosterone, DHEA, LH, FSH) can lead to mood swings, depression, anxiety or excessive irritability.
