SHERIDAN, WYOMING ā November 30, 2024 - The Archiproducts Design Awards 2024 ceremony took place on November 14th at the Superstudio space in Milan, bringing together prominent figures from the international design and architecture community to celebrate the ninth edition of this prestigious award. The event showcased the winning products and honored outstanding achievements in design, sustainability, and innovation.
Insights from Leading Voices
The ceremony featured insights from renowned figures in the design world:
- Lorenza Baroncelli, architect and Director of the Department of Architecture and Contemporary Design at MAXXI, shared her perspective as an ADA 2024 jury member, highlighting the merging of technology and aesthetics in contemporary design.
- Enzo Maiorano, CMO, CCO & Co-Founder of Archiproducts, expressed gratitude to the jury, emphasizing the importance of recognizing excellence in design.
- Davide Angeli, representing the ADA 2024 jury from AMDL Circle, accepted the jury seal, acknowledging the diverse expertise and perspectives that contribute to the awards' significance.
Patricia Urquiola: Designer of the Year 2024
Patricia Urquiola was honored as the Designer of the Year 2024, recognized for her exceptional career, humanistic approach to design, and innovative use of materials and technology.
"The Designer of the Year award is intended to recognise the value of what has been done in recent months, but above all to honour a contribution that will become a true legacy," said Roberta Dragone, Archiproducts Executive Editor.
In her acceptance speech, Urquiola expressed gratitude for the award and highlighted her "brutalist approach to design" and the importance of collaborating with companies to explore new materials and technologies.
Special Mention: Made in Puglia Design
The 2024 edition of the Archiproducts Design Awards featured a Special Mention to celebrate Apulian design excellence, showcasing twelve brands that embody the region's unique design identity.
Alessandro Delli Noci, Regional Councillor for Economic Development for the Puglia Region, expressed his hope that this recognition would help Apulian design reach a wider audience and emphasized the region's openness to supporting designers from around the world.
Pasquale Junior Natuzzi, Chief Creative Officer of the Natuzzi Group, spoke about the importance of diversity in design and the inspiration he draws from his family's heritage and the Puglia region.
Expanding Boundaries: The Archiproducts Global Trade Network
The event also marked the launch of Archiproducts China and Archiproducts India, expanding the platform's global reach and strengthening its trade network.
"Tonight, with our strategic partners, we launch Archiproducts China and Archiproducts India, which are two building blocks for constructing and expanding our Global Trade Network," explained Ferdinando Napoli, CEO and founder of Archiproducts.
Celebrating the Winners
The winning brands received the iconic ADA trophy, designed by MUT Design and manufactured by De Castelli, symbolizing the fluidity of water with its blue and green hues. Designers of the winning products were presented with a monolith in Verde Guatemala marble, created by Salvatori and designed by Michael Anastassiades.
The Sustainability Award, recognizing excellence in sustainable design and the circular economy, was presented for the second consecutive year. Winners received a Lebanese cedar trophy, created by Riva 1920 and designed by AMDL Circle.
