Artemide's Turn Around System: Flexible Lighting Solutions for Modern Homes

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 28, 2025 – Artemide introduces the revolutionary Turn Around lighting system, a blend of reduction, openness, and optoelectronic intelligence, designed to seamlessly integrate into diverse architectural spaces, including the modern home.

Flexible Geometries: Turn Around by Artemide

The Turn Around system redefines lighting flexibility, allowing for aesthetic and functional illumination across various environments. Designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, this integrative lighting system offers a finely balanced relationship between design and technology, making it a perfect addition to spaces like the kitchen.

Curves and Angles: Tailored Lighting Solutions

At the core of the Turn Around system is its slender, 12.5-millimeter rail, a dimension that aligns with standard plasterboard measurements, enabling easy retrofitting and adaptation to diverse room layouts. This compact rail system facilitates the creation of linear, 90-degree angled, and curved modules, offering unparalleled flexibility in shaping light structures.

The system’s design freedom stems from its ability to combine various geometries, all powered by a single, continuous 48V energy infrastructure with no length limitations. This open platform supports a wide array of lighting elements, including sharpening modules for focused light, efficient vector spots for general illumination, and expressive pendant lights from the Artemide Design Collection.

Lighting Inspiration for the Kitchen: A Case Study

The Turn Around system's versatility is evident in its application across various sectors, from office landscapes to retail and hospitality. However, its suitability for residential spaces, particularly the kitchen, is exceptionally noteworthy. Artemide, in collaboration with raumideen Iserlohn, implemented this system in a home featuring a connected kitchen and dining area, where a minimalist kitchen counter seamlessly transitions into a dining table. Large windows flood the space with natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

In this project, the Turn Around system subtly integrates into the spatial structure. The rails, arranged in a U-shape along the ceiling, are equipped with light modules precisely tailored to the lighting needs of each zone. Regularly spaced vector spots provide comprehensive basic lighting, ensuring uniform illumination throughout the space. Complementing these are sharpening modules that deliver focused, consistent light onto work surfaces, enhancing functionality.

Aesthetically, the rail system above the dining table features five pendant lights from the Unterlinden family. These pendant lights, with their pointed, matte silver lampshades, harmonize beautifully with the light gray table surface, creating a cohesive and elegant look. As Carlotta de Bevilacqua states, "The freedom to design the light in the room results from the flexibility to combine a variety of geometries." This project exemplifies how the Turn Around system discreetly integrates and elegantly combines technical and decorative elements to achieve holistic lighting.
