SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 18, 2024 – Gmundner Keramik, the renowned Austrian ceramics manufacturer, has partnered with Lebenshilfe Gmunden, a non-profit organization supporting people with disabilities, to create a unique collection of handcrafted ceramics. This collaboration, titled "Light into the Darkness," showcases the artistic talents of individuals with disabilities while supporting a worthy cause.
A Fusion of Art and Inclusion
The project involved artists from Lebenshilfe Gmunden designing handcrafted pieces, which were then brought to life by the apprentices at Gmundner Keramik. The result is a collection of original and unique pieces, including jugs, plates, and cups, each reflecting the individual artist's creative vision.
Supporting "Licht ins Dunkel"
These unique pieces will be auctioned off as part of the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) charity campaign "Licht ins Dunkel" (Light into the Darkness). Since 1973, this annual campaign has been raising funds to support people with disabilities, families, and children in need.
A Unique Experience for the Artists
The collaboration with Gmundner Keramik provided the artists from Lebenshilfe Gmunden with a unique opportunity to gain new experiences and showcase their work to a wider audience. "Our art group is among the best in Europe in the field of art by people with disabilities," emphasizes Gerhard Scheinast, Managing Director of Lebenshilfe Oberösterreich.
The project allowed the artists to express their creativity while gaining insights into the traditional craftsmanship involved in ceramics production. "Ceramics are beautiful, but you have to be careful. Clay can break easily," says Christian, one of the artists, describing his experience with reverence.
Inspired by Winter
The artists were given complete creative freedom in designing their pieces, with the only inspiration being the overarching theme of "winter." Their designs incorporated festive motifs such as snowflakes, fir trees, and skiers, along with vibrant colors like pink and turquoise.
A Testament to Collaboration
The apprentices at Gmundner Keramik meticulously translated the artists' visions onto the "white gold," ensuring that each piece reflects the artists' original designs. Every piece is a testament to the successful fusion of art and creativity, traditional craftsmanship, and social commitment.
Creativity for a Good Cause
The auction of these exclusive tableware sets and individual pieces provides a platform for the artists and their work while contributing to the support of social projects. Each product tells a story of creativity, collaboration, and the shared pursuit of bringing light into the lives of others.
A Powerful Example of Inclusion
The collaboration between Lebenshilfe Gmunden and Gmundner Keramik is an inspiring example of inclusion in practice and the power of collective commitment. "We gave the artists complete creative freedom," explains Alexander Köck, authorized representative of Gmundner Keramik. "It is fascinating to see how they express their ideas in original designs."
Jürgen Blematl of the auction platform Aurena is also convinced that the ceramic works will be met with great enthusiasm. "Unique pieces by artists always have a special appeal. We expect these works to achieve many times the regular auction value."
A Symbol of Artistic Diversity and Social Responsibility
With this extraordinary project, Gmundner Keramik not only sets an example for artistic diversity but also inspires others to get involved and support those in need.
Bidding and Auction Details
Bids can be placed on the pieces until November 8, 2024. As a special highlight, the "Green Snowboarder" will be auctioned off during the "Licht ins Dunkel" gala on November 15th.
