SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 24, 2024 – The Scandinavian design brand Muuto, in collaboration with Norwegian design duo Anderssen & Voll, introduces the Settle Outdoor Series. This collection of comfy and refined upholstered lounge seating is designed to blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, making it a perfect companion for those endless summer days.
"Today, many of us live in a way that blurs the lines between interior and exterior," says Espen Voll of Anderssen & Voll. "These spaces support each other. You can see that in design too, as the distinction between indoor and outdoor furniture becomes less clear. We bring the comfort of indoors out with us. So, we designed a sofa and lounge chair for spending the best of times outdoors."
Inspired by Scandinavian Masters
The Settle Outdoor Series draws inspiration from mid-century modern Danish design and the upholstered outdoor furniture traditions of Southern Europe and South America. Anderssen & Voll, known for their best-selling Muuto seating designs like Connect, Oslo, and Outline, aimed to bring a fresh perspective to this tradition.
"The tubular steel and supporting textile bands are a nod to classic traits of outdoor furniture, while the upholstery and tailored details lean on the feel of indoor sofas and lounge chairs," explains Torbjørn Anderssen. "This meeting of opposites gives it a light, contemporary and distinctly Scandinavian feel."
