SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 22, 2025 - Horizon Robotics and Chery Automobile Announce Mass Production Launch of HSD
Horizon Robotics’ Horizon SuperDrive (HSD) is set to make its global mass-production debut in Chery’s premium EXEED model this September. The announcement was made during a high-profile launch event in Shanghai on April 18, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of intelligent urban driving solutions.
Breakthrough Driving Assistance System Built for Urban Environments
HSD is powered by Horizon Robotics’ cutting-edge Journey 6 processor and an end-to-end architecture. Developed entirely in-house and designed specifically for mass production, HSD simulates human driving behavior to deliver a safer, more comfortable, and more intuitive urban driving experience.
Available in three distinct versions, HSD brings scalable advanced driving assistance to a broad spectrum of passenger vehicles—from entry-level to premium segments. The introduction of the “Horizon Cell”—a plug-and-play, upgradable hardware component—offers OEM partners an adaptable and cost-efficient pathway to integrate smart driving solutions across vehicle lineups.
“Our goal is to create the best smart driving products loved by people everywhere,” said Dr. Yu Kai, founder and CEO of Horizon Robotics. “We aspire to make the car a trusted smart companion that is truly accessible to all.”
Strategic Collaboration with Chery Automobile
Horizon Robotics and Chery Automobile have maintained a strategic partnership since 2021, equipping numerous models across Chery’s four premium brands with the Journey series processing platform. This collaboration now enters a new phase, as HSD is officially set to power a new EXEED model, slated for production starting in September 2025.
“Horizon Robotics stands as our cornerstone partner in smart mobility, with their HSD representing the leading urban driving assistance solutions available today,” said Yin Tongyue, chairman of Chery Automobile. “Both Chery and Horizon Robotics are united by an unwavering dedication to technology, safety, and quality — all aimed at establishing our smart driving solutions as the trusted and preferred choice for consumers worldwide.”
Expanding Global Footprint Through Strategic Partnerships
The significance of HSD extends beyond Chery. Horizon Robotics and Volkswagen Group have also expanded their collaboration through their joint venture, CARIZON. The companies are working on next-generation advanced driving systems based on HSD, with several Volkswagen vehicle models anticipated to enter production in 2026.
With over 310 design-wins across more than 200 vehicle models, Horizon Robotics continues to grow its influence across the global automotive industry. The company’s ecosystem now includes over 40 OEM and car brand partners, encompassing all of the top 10 OEMs in China.
An Accessible Future for Smart Driving
By merging intelligent hardware with deeply integrated software, Horizon Robotics is positioning HSD as a key enabler of smart mobility. The scalable architecture and modular hardware approach underscore Horizon’s vision for a future where safe, intelligent driving is not a luxury—but a standard across all market segments.
