The event, hosted by the International Trade Administration of Taiwan (TITA) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), emphasized the industry's commitment to net-zero emissions and the development of sustainable future concepts for the bicycle industry. Experts from the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA), the Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS), and the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC) gathered for the first time at Eurobike to share insights into the Taiwanese bicycle industry's sustainable development strategies and innovative R&D trends. Visitors can explore the latest industry trends from Taiwan during the Eurobike trade fair from July 3 to 7, 2024, in Frankfurt.

At the press conference on the opening day of the world's largest bicycle trade fair, five prominent companies presented their latest developments under the theme "Cycling Ahead For a Greener World." These companies were recipients of the Taiwan Excellence Award, known for recognizing high quality and innovative design. The product presentations emphasized sustainability, reflecting a broader industry shift towards green manufacturing and adherence to ESG principles. Prof. Dr. Jhy-Wey Shieh, representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, underscored Taiwan's significant position in the bicycle industry and its commitment to becoming a key partner for buyers in the EU and globally.

Innovating for Sustainability and Global Partnerships

Taiwan's bicycle industry operates through a Synergy Triangular Partnership, involving three major sectors that collectively enhance the industry's innovation and sustainability. The Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA) functions as an industrial exchange platform and a foundation for the growth and development of Taiwanese bicycle enterprises. The Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC) focuses on improving R&D capabilities and competitiveness, with projects like designing bicycles for the disabled and eCargo bikes that cater to new lifestyle needs. The Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS), the world's first collaboration between the bicycle industry and government to propose an international net-zero carbon initiative, has united 80 companies and supported enterprises like GIANT, MERIDA, and VP in their carbon reduction efforts. By nurturing a green ecosystem, Taiwan's bicycle industry aims to collaborate with international partners to advance towards a sustainable future.
