SHERIDAN, WYOMING – November 25, 2024 - FIAT has reinforced its commitment to sustainable mobility with the introduction of Bio-Hybrid technology in its popular Pulse and Fastback SUVs in Brazil. This innovative approach combines electrification with hybrid engines powered by ethanol, a renewable biofuel, offering a cleaner and more affordable solution for drivers.
As a leader in the Brazilian automotive market, FIAT is dedicated to providing accessible and sustainable mobility solutions that address the country's unique needs and contribute to a greener future. "FIAT is introducing Bio-Hybrid technology in its Pulse and Fastback SUVs in Brazil, where the brand is absolute leader and want to consolidate itself as a protagonist in the future of mobility," the company stated.
Pioneering Sustainable Technology
FIAT is at the forefront of developing and implementing Bio-Hybrid technology, leveraging Brazil's expertise in ethanol production to create a more sustainable and socially responsible approach to mobility. The company's global Bio-Hybrid research center, located at Stellantis' Betim facility in Brazil, underscores its commitment to this innovative technology.
The T200 Hybrid Engine: Power and Efficiency
The Bio-Hybrid Pulse and Fastback models are equipped with the T200 Hybrid engine, a 1.0-liter turbocharged flex-fuel engine that delivers both power and efficiency. This engine, paired with a seven-speed CVT gearbox, produces 130 hp and 20.4 kgfm of torque, making it the most powerful in its segment.
The integration of hybrid technology results in significant fuel savings, with an 11.5% reduction for the Fastback and a 10.7% reduction for the Pulse in urban cycles, using both gasoline and ethanol.
Innovative Hybrid System for Optimized Performance
FIAT's hybrid system features a multifunctional electric motor that replaces the traditional alternator and starter. This motor is supported by two 12V batteries: a 68Ah lead-acid battery and an 11Ah lithium-ion battery. The electric motor provides up to 3kW of power, assisting the combustion engine and enhancing fuel efficiency.
Four Dynamic Modes for Maximum Efficiency
The Bio-Hybrid system operates in four distinct modes to optimize performance and fuel consumption:
- e-Start&Stop: Shuts off the combustion engine when the vehicle is stationary, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
- e-Assist: Provides additional torque during acceleration and startup, improving performance and reducing fuel consumption.
- Smart Alternator: Optimizes alternator operation to efficiently charge the batteries while minimizing energy waste.
- e-Regen: Captures and converts kinetic energy during deceleration into electrical energy, recharging the batteries and recovering up to 25% of otherwise lost energy.
FIAT's Commitment to a Sustainable Future
The launch of the Bio-Hybrid Pulse and Fastback in Brazil demonstrates FIAT's dedication to providing sustainable and accessible mobility solutions. By combining electrification with biofuel technology, FIAT is paving the way for a cleaner and more responsible automotive future, solidifying its position as a leader in the Brazilian market and a pioneer in sustainable mobility solutions.
