Future Logistix 2025 Highlights Urgency of E-Logistics Shift

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 27, 2025 – With the logistics world on the brink of an electric transformation, the “Future Logistix” event at HEIDELBERG’s Wiesloch site sent a clear message: those who delay adopting e-logistics risk falling behind. The event brought together about 60 logistics, science, and tech experts for a full day of hands-on learning, strategic exchange, and live demonstrations focused on sustainable fleet electrification.

Hosted by Amperfied GmbH, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG), and co-organized with BEG Kraichgau and SAP, the event emphasized that the time for strategic action is now.

The Road to Scalable E-Logistics Is Now Open

Robin Karpp, Managing Director of Amperfied GmbH, summed up the challenge: "The question is no longer whether the technology for e-logistics works, but how we can now implement it across the board and scale it economically. To achieve this breakthrough, we need politicians, regional players, and the private sector to join forces."

From keynote speeches to best-practice interviews, attendees explored the roadmap to scaling electrification, from installing charging infrastructure to improving cost efficiency and boosting operational reliability.

Charging Infrastructure: The Make-or-Break Factor

A key theme of the event was that infrastructure is everything. Smooth, reliable operations depend on it, as emphasized by René Meissner of SMATRICS: "What is important for a logistics company? Smooth operations. If you have a charging station for your truck at your company location and it fails, the truck will no longer be able to drive."

Amperfied showcased its response with the “availability-based operating hours” model, which lets logistics companies pay only for the energy they actually deliver to their fleets. Karpp explained: “Instead of buying the hardware outright, our customers only pay when they can actually supply energy to their fleet. We are responsible for a functioning charging infrastructure.”

Dynamic DC: Live Charging in Action

In a live demo at the Amperfied development lab, participants witnessed the next evolution of fast charging: the Amperfied Dynamic DC. The system, tailored to logistics needs and launching in the DACH region by 2026, offers:

  • Power distribution of up to 480 kW per charge point
  • Up to 12 CCS2 connections for fleet-scale use
  • Smart energy management for existing grid capacity
  • Scalable and space-efficient design for depots

This new solution ensures that logistics companies can efficiently charge both vans and heavy-duty trucks during off-hours without overloading their infrastructure.

Industry Voices: From Strategy to Urgency

A standout keynote by Prof. Dr. Michael Schröder of DHBW Mannheim tackled the tension between cost, politics, and sustainability. He noted, “We are seeing [...] how companies are suddenly even placing the topic on their strategic agenda.”

For Bernhard Haidacher of LKW Walter, e-mobility is non-negotiable: “For us, it has long since ceased to be a fig leaf. I assume that in a few years, no customer will accept us sending a B7 diesel vehicle.”

Katrin Herda of TST Group added: “We want to help the entire industry; no one can do it alone.”

These voices echoed a shared message: collaboration and action must go hand in hand to push e-logistics from niche to norm.

A Catalyst for Industry-Wide Progress

Participants left the event not just informed but inspired. Dr. Micha Lege of Wiedmann & Winz captured the sentiment: “I attend many events, but I have never seen anything like this organized by a customer."

With strong turnout, expert-led panels, and real-time tech demonstrations, “Future Logistix” proved that fleet electrification is no longer a futuristic idea — it’s a present-day imperative.
