SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 12, 2025 – Continental has announced the release of two new tires, the EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S, engineered specifically for electric vehicles (EVs) and designed to deliver superior performance, energy efficiency, and a quieter driving experience.

New Tires Focus on Sustainability and Performance

These innovative tires boast a range of features aimed at enhancing the EV driving experience. With a focus on low rolling resistance, the EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S achieve Class A ratings in rolling resistance and impressive Class A and B ratings for wet braking and rolling noise, respectively. This translates to increased range for EVs and a quieter, more comfortable ride for drivers and passengers.

"We are thrilled to introduce the EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S, representing a significant step forward in tire technology for electric vehicles," says a Continental spokesperson. "These tires demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and meeting the unique demands of the EV market."

Advanced Technologies for Enhanced Efficiency

Continental employed cutting-edge technologies in the development of these new tires. The Green Chili 3.0 rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology, previously implemented in the AllSeasonContact 2 tire, contribute to the tires' exceptional performance and energy efficiency.

Furthermore, the use of new materials in the tire carcass, inner layer, and tire wall minimizes friction, further reducing rolling resistance and maximizing energy efficiency. The innovative Aero Dimple structure, inspired by golf ball aerodynamics, reduces air turbulence, leading to significant energy savings.

Quiet and Comfortable Driving Experience

Continental also prioritized noise reduction in the design of the EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S. The new Silent Pattern tread pattern, with optimized tread block spacing and angles, effectively minimizes road noise, particularly at speeds around 50km/h. This thoughtful design creates a more pleasant soundscape for both drivers and the surrounding environment.

EcoContact 7 vs. EcoContact 7 S: Tailored Performance

While both tires excel in efficiency and noise reduction, they cater to slightly different driving preferences. The EcoContact 7 prioritizes low rolling resistance for maximum range, while the EcoContact 7 S offers enhanced wet grip and handling for a sportier driving experience. The 7 S also boasts improved steering precision and increased grip, making it ideal for drivers seeking a more dynamic performance.

Original Equipment Approvals from Leading Automakers

The EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S have already garnered attention from leading automakers, securing original equipment approvals from manufacturers such as BYD, Mercedes, and Volkswagen. This underscores the tires' exceptional quality and performance, positioning them as a top choice for the next generation of electric vehicles.
