SHERIDAN, WYOMING – November 03, 2024 – The BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 marked a thrilling return to the event's roots in Africa, with Namibia serving as the stunning backdrop for the ninth edition of this legendary adventure.   

Over six exhilarating days, 22 teams from across the globe—16 men's and 6 women's teams—embarked on an epic 1,350-kilometer journey through Namibia's diverse and challenging terrains. The route tested riders' skills and endurance, leading them through vast dry savannas, towering canyons, rocky trails, and dry riverbeds.   

This year's event was more than just a competition; it was a true embodiment of the GS spirit, emphasizing camaraderie, skill, and pushing boundaries.   

A Global Gathering of Adventure Enthusiasts

With nearly 190 participants, including riders, marshals, mechanics, medical teams, and media representatives from 34 nations, the GS Trophy 2024 was a global celebration of adventure motorcycling. The event brought together 120 motorcycles and 32 support vehicles, creating a vibrant display of international unity and a shared passion for exploration.   

Team Germany Reclaims Victory

The final day was filled with anticipation as Team Germany emerged victorious, reclaiming the GS Trophy title they last held in 2012. Their consistent performance and strategic approach throughout the competition allowed them to overcome the challenging terrain and secure their well-deserved win.   

Team International: A Milestone for Female Riders

The Female International Team also made history, showcasing remarkable skill, teamwork, and determination to claim victory in their category. Their win underscored the growing presence and impact of female riders in the world of adventure motorcycling.   

The Spirit of the GS Trophy

Beyond the competition, the GS Trophy was marked by heartwarming stories of resilience, determination, and camaraderie. Andrea and Massimo Gioia of Team Italy made history as the first father-son duo to compete together, while Anna Cárdova of the Female International Team overcame a recent shoulder injury to achieve victory.   

The event also highlighted the incredible human spirit, as exemplified by Mike Booth, MRP for Team UK, who tackled the challenging course with a prosthetic leg.
