SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 20, 2025 – The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has announced the launch of five new Motorsport Medicine eLearning Modules, designed to bolster medical knowledge and preparedness within the global motorsport community. These modules, available through the FIA University, aim to equip staff, volunteers, and drivers with essential skills and best practices for managing medical situations before, during, and after events.

The FIA, in collaboration with the FIA Medical Commission and with support from the FIA Foundation, has developed these comprehensive modules to address various aspects of motorsport medicine. Each module is tailored to specific roles and responsibilities, ensuring relevant and practical training for all participants. A Closer Look at the Modules
The Driver’s Handbook: This module focuses on the unique physical and mental demands placed on racing drivers. It covers crucial topics such as fitness, medical checks, event preparation, and accident preparation. The goal is to empower drivers to "perform necessary medical checks, follow event processes and manage challenging situations effectively," as stated by the FIA.
Understanding Concussion: Recognizing and responding to concussion is paramount in motorsport safety. This module educates drivers, medical staff, and teams on "recognizing concussion symptoms, implementing correct response protocols and managing safe returns to competition," ensuring a consistent and informed approach to concussion management.
Duties of the Healthcare Professional: Designed for clinical staff of all levels, this module provides guidance on operating safely within the dynamic motorsport environment. It covers "pre-event preparation, in-event responsibilities and post-event procedures," providing a comprehensive overview of best practices in motorsport medical care.
Duties of the Chief Medical Officer: This module targets current, deputy, and aspiring chief medical officers, providing a framework for leading medical operations at motorsport events. It encompasses "key responsibilities, preparation processes, event-day medical leadership and post-event duties," ensuring effective medical management at all levels.
Principles of Pre-Hospital Care: This module is essential for those involved in pre-hospital care, both newcomers and experienced practitioners. Covering "trauma kinematics, on-scene assessment and emergency management," it equips participants with the skills needed to "follow the correct procedures when handling specific motorsport medical scenes at the pre-hospital stage," a critical aspect of immediate care.

Each module requires approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete and is accessible through the FIA University website. This flexible format allows individuals to learn at their own pace and convenience.
