Goodyear Celebrates Tire Longevity and Legacy in Record-Breaking Le Mans Effort

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – June 23, 2025 – Goodyear returned to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in full force this past weekend, powering an impressive 41 race entries and demonstrating its legendary endurance tire technology at the world’s most prestigious motorsport event.

With a strategy built around tire longevity and consistent performance, Goodyear supported the entire LMGT3 and LMP2 grids at the 93rd edition of Le Mans. Some drivers managed to complete up to five consecutive stints—covering more than 600 kilometers—on a single set of Goodyear’s slick compounds, matching the maximum allowed driving time without sacrificing grip or speed.

Endurance and efficiency take the spotlight

The success of Goodyear’s racing tires came down to their ability to maintain performance over long distances—an edge that matters in a race where every second counts.

  • Goodyear’s slicks delivered multi-stint durability with no compromise on performance.
  • Drivers in dry conditions surpassed 600 km on a single set of tires.
  • The compounds are designed to perform across diverse engine layouts and driving styles.

“This year we could see drivers running up to five stints on a single set of tires, meaning our compounds will be able to last as long as the regulations allow drivers to stay in the car,” said Mike McGregor, Head of Sales Endurance Racing EMEA at Goodyear. “That level of performance and durability is the result of thousands of hours in research, development, testing, and data simulation to develop the next generation of endurance racing tires.”

A milestone year for Goodyear and the Eagle brand

This year’s race was especially meaningful for Goodyear as it marked 45 years since the launch of the Eagle brand—its iconic range of high-performance tires. The Goodyear Eagle name, once seen on the sidewalls of winners in Formula 1, NASCAR, IndyCar, and Le Mans, continues to represent a legacy of racing excellence.

Beyond the track, Goodyear also amplified its presence with engaging fan experiences and a celebratory flyover by the Goodyear Blimp, which is currently touring as part of the brand’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

“Goodyear loves coming back to Le Mans each year. It’s the highlight of the endurance racing calendar and equally important for Goodyear; particularly as we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Eagle brand,” McGregor noted.

Equipping champions across LMGT3 and LMP2

In the LMGT3 category, all teams raced on Goodyear’s proven ‘Eagle Medium’ compound, with a matching wet tire for variable weather. Meanwhile, the 17 LMP2 entrants—including those from the ELMS and other international series—used Goodyear’s latest LMP2 ‘Eagle Medium’ slicks, which debuted successfully at Le Castellet.

Goodyear’s technical effort at Le Mans was massive, with:

  • Over 8,000 tires delivered to the track
  • A 100-person support team on-site
  • 41 cars fitted with Goodyear tires—more than two-thirds of the grid

“This year will be the biggest Le Mans operation Goodyear has ever undertaken. It’s a significant challenge, but one we are fully prepared for,” said McGregor. “Le Mans is the jewel in the crown of endurance racing and a real opportunity to showcase Goodyear’s technology and expertise in endurance racing. We’re proud and excited to play such a central role in this iconic event, and to support so many teams as they compete in one of the world’s greatest races.”

Legacy meets innovation in motorsport’s ultimate test

Goodyear’s commitment to developing rubber that can meet the demands of both professional and amateur racers, across a variety of vehicles and track types, continues to drive its success. From technical breakthroughs to racing milestones, the brand’s impact was undeniable at this year’s Le Mans.
