Goodyear Impresses at 24 Hours of Le Mans with Tire Performance That Pushes Boundaries

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – June 23, 2025 – Goodyear took center stage at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, demonstrating how its Eagle racing tires can go the distance—literally—by outperforming expectations in one of the world’s most demanding motorsport events.

With every car in both the LMGT3 and LMP2 classes racing exclusively on Goodyear tires, the company underscored its reputation for endurance, adaptability, and fan engagement. From outstanding tire longevity to an unforgettable fan experience, Goodyear’s presence at Le Mans was nothing short of record-breaking.

Endurance That Exceeds Driver Limits

Goodyear Eagle racing tires were put to the ultimate test in a dry, fast-paced race weekend that followed unusually warm weather. The results were exceptional: many teams completed up to four full driving stints—about 44 laps or 600 kilometers—on a single set of tires. That’s twice the length of a typical Formula 1 Grand Prix.

With regulations limiting drivers to four hours at a time, the tires outlasted even the people behind the wheel. This incredible endurance was a result of Goodyear’s continuous investment in innovation and its unmatched racing heritage.

Winners on the Track and in the Hearts of Fans

The race ended with a back-to-back LMGT3 victory for Porsche’s Richard Lietz and the Manthey Racing team, joined by Riccardo Pera and Ryan Hardwick. In LMP2, Inter Europol Competition claimed the win with drivers Nick Yelloly, Jakub Smiechowski, and Tom Dillmann.

Fans around the world played a part in the celebration by selecting the Goodyear Wingfoot Award winners via Instagram. Richard Lietz and Nick Yelloly were honored with the fan-voted trophies for their standout performances in LMGT3 and LMP2.

“A year ago, watching the LMGT3 cars race around Le Mans for the first time was a special moment. This year, with the class even stronger and the competition even fiercer, the whole Goodyear team is even prouder to be the official tire partner to the category and write the next chapter in our Eagle legacy. Congratulations to Manthey 1ST Phorm and Inter Europol Competition for their impressive victories. We are particularly pleased with the longevity of our Eagle Medium slick tires, which multiple teams showed were able to complete as many as four stints before being changed, matching our targets and expectations. In fact, with tire longevity meeting the maximum drive time requirement, Goodyear tire technology is outpacing human driving limits!” — Mike McGregor, Head of Sales, Endurance Racing EMEA, Goodyear

A Record Tire Operation at the World’s Greatest Race

Supplying every car in two major categories made this Goodyear’s biggest Le Mans yet. The company deployed 100 staff members, from engineers and fitters to marketing and logistics teams, ensuring smooth service from start to finish.

  • 8,000 tires delivered to the track
  • 41 of 62 cars ran on Goodyear
  • Only one slick and one rain spec per class

This simplified logistics while still meeting elite performance demands.

Celebrating 100 Years of the Goodyear Blimp

High above the action, the Goodyear Blimp soared over Circuit de la Sarthe as part of its 100th anniversary tour. Guests, partners, and media had the rare chance to view the iconic track from the sky, with flight experiences offered throughout race weekend.

On the ground, fans flocked to the Goodyear booth in the fanzone to win prizes, grab race-themed gear, and learn how racing technology influences the brand’s consumer tire lineup.

“Off the track as well as on it we helped put on a show for the fans. Between our Goodyear booth in the fan zone and the Goodyear Blimp in the skies, Le Mans was the perfect opportunity to celebrate two important milestones: 100 years of the Goodyear Blimp and 45 years of our Eagle performance brand.
“We’re now focused on the remainder of the WEC and ELMS seasons, where our dozens of supported LMGT3 and LMP2 teams will fight for championship titles.” — Luca Andreoni, Senior Manager Marketing Communications Strategy, Goodyear

More Action to Come This Summer

The racing action continues soon, with the FIA World Endurance Championship returning on July 13 at the 6 Hours of São Paulo. Before that, the European Le Mans Series resumes on July 6 with the 4 Hours of Imola.

Goodyear’s cutting-edge racing tires will once again be right in the thick of it, proving their value not just for teams—but for everyday drivers who benefit from the same technology on the road.
