Lancia made a spectacular return to the rally world this past weekend at the Rally Regione Piemonte, captivating fans and reigniting the brand’s rich motorsport legacy. With a thrilling debut for the new Ypsilon Rally4 HF, the Italian automaker proved it's back in the game—stronger, bolder, and more committed than ever to performance, heritage, and the future of racing.
Lancia Corse HF Village: A Hub of Innovation and Heritage
The heart of the action was the Lancia Corse HF Village, located in the scenic town of Alba, in the Langhe region—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This immersive village was packed with electrifying activities that brought together history, innovation, and pure driving adrenaline. Over 25,000 enthusiastic fans turned out for the event, highlighting the immense consumer excitement around Lancia’s rally revival.
Visitors enjoyed test drives of the new hybrid and electric New Ypsilon, admired the powerful 280-hp Ypsilon HF, and explored a breathtaking display of 25 classic Lancia rally cars, thanks to the Cinzano Rally Team. From hands-on experiences to jaw-dropping displays, the Lancia Corse HF Village was a true celebration of motorsport culture.
A Debut to Remember: Ypsilon Rally4 HF Hits the Podium
In a powerful debut, the Ypsilon Rally4 HF secured a third-place finish in the Sparco Italian Two-Wheel Drive Championship, driven by the talented duo Pisani-Biagi. Their podium success set the tone for what promises to be an exciting chapter for Lancia in competitive rallying.
Developed under the guidance of rally legend Miki Biasion, the new Rally4 HF was met with widespread acclaim. Biasion, a two-time World Rally Champion with Lancia, played a central role throughout the event, even taking a lap of honor that thrilled fans. “It is incredibly moving to see all of this passion and warmth for a brand which has been absent from racing for so many years! We’re back!” he shared emotionally.
A New Era for Young Talent: Trofeo Lancia Launches with Full Roster
The event also served as a prelude to the much-anticipated Trofeo Lancia, a one-brand cup set to begin May 8th at the Rally Targa Florio. Already maxed out at 40 participating teams, the Trofeo has generated excitement across the motorsport community. Of those, 25 are Under-35 crews, demonstrating Lancia’s commitment to nurturing young driving talent.
The stakes are high, with a €360,000 prize fund and the chance for the top driver to join the official Lancia Corse HF team in the FIA ERC 2026. With representation from international and female drivers, the Trofeo Lancia is more than a competition—it's a platform for the next generation of rally champions.
Power and Precision: The Engineering Behind the Ypsilon Rally4 HF
The Ypsilon Rally4 HF is a masterclass in accessible performance, featuring a 212-hp turbocharged engine, SADEV 5-speed gearbox, and adjustable Ohlin shock absorbers. Designed to be the perfect entry-level rally car for rising stars, it combines Lancia’s renowned engineering with cutting-edge rally tech to deliver high-level performance right out of the gate.
The Rally Regione Piemonte also saw stand-out performances from Kauppinen, who won the trial show, as well as Vigliaturo-Corradini, Fiore-Casalini, and Kauppinen-Karttunen, all of whom crossed the finish line in Piazza San Paolo. Lancia Corse HF honored each of these teams with a special commemorative plaque, marking their place in Lancia’s modern racing legacy.
The Future of Rally Looks Bright—and Italian
CEO Luca Napolitano, alongside Eugenio Franzetti, Director of Lancia Corse HF, and spokesperson Miki Biasion, expressed their enthusiasm at the well-attended press conference. Their message was clear: Lancia’s return to motorsport is more than nostalgia—it’s a bold leap into the future.
As Biasion noted: “We are starting out humbly in Rally4, but made a big entrance in pure Lancia style. Our goal is to help young drivers, discover new talents, and help them kick off their careers.”
With an electrifying debut, a full slate of up-and-coming talent, and a powerful new rally car, Lancia is poised to reclaim its legendary status in motorsport—not just as a historic name, but as a driving force shaping the future.
