SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 6, 2025 – With the 24 Hours of Le Mans just over a month away, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies is turning up the heat at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Known as the “Ardennes Rollercoaster,” this high-speed track will host the 6 Hours of Spa on May 10 – a key dress rehearsal for the world’s most prestigious endurance race.
Momentum Builds Ahead of Le Mans
Coming off a strong performance at Imola, where they clinched another Hyperpole appearance and their 17th top-10 finish in just 20 FIA World Endurance Championship races, Peugeot TotalEnergies arrives at Spa with confidence.
Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP of Stellantis Motorsport, summed up the team’s ambition: “At Imola, even though luck wasn’t fully on our side and we made a few small mistakes, we saw progress in our race pace compared to Qatar, and we want to keep moving in that direction.”
A Strategic Spa Session for Speed
To ensure they’re fully prepared, the team completed a crucial test session in early April at the newly resurfaced 7.004 km track.
“The Spa-Francorchamps track was resurfaced after the 2024 WEC race, so it was crucial to test there ahead of this year’s 6 Hours,” said Olivier Jansonnie, Technical Director at Peugeot Sport. “The track is now significantly faster.”
Thanks to good weather, the team made the most of the opportunity, completing their entire test program. Jansonnie added, “It was a very interesting day. I think we’re well prepared for the race, assuming the weather holds up.”
Star Power and Full Lineups on the Grid
This year, all six Peugeot Hypercar drivers will be competing in the Belgian Ardennes, a return to full strength after last season’s scheduling conflicts. Belgian native Stoffel Vandoorne is particularly excited to make his home-circuit debut in a Hypercar.
“Finally, a home WEC race for me!” Vandoorne exclaimed. “I missed last year’s 6 Hours of Spa due to a scheduling clash with Formula E. I can’t wait to return – in a Hypercar, with my fans, my family… Spa is of course one of my favorite tracks, one of the most beautiful circuits in the world.”
He will race the #94 PEUGEOT 9X8 alongside Loïc Duval and Malthe Jakobsen. The #93 will be piloted by Paul Di Resta, Mikkel Jensen, and Jean-Eric Vergne.
Why Spa Matters More Than Ever
Spa-Francorchamps isn’t just another stop on the FIA WEC calendar – it’s a critical checkpoint on the road to Le Mans. With its sweeping curves, high-speed straights, and elevation changes, it mirrors many of the characteristics of the legendary French circuit.
“Spa-Francorchamps is a legendary and very fast circuit… It closely mirrors the layout of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is why all teams see the 6 Hours of Spa as the ultimate preparation,” said Finot.
Malthe Jakobsen echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the importance of a strong finish: “Spa is our last preparation race. I hope we’ll have a good weekend, trouble-free and with a competitive car ahead of the biggest race of the season.”
