SHERIDAN, WYOMING – November 03, 2024 – Team Peugeot TotalEnergies ended the FIA World Endurance Championship season on a high note with a spectacular podium finish at the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
Starting from the back of the grid after their best qualifying time was canceled, the No. 93 PEUGEOT 9X8, driven by Jensen, Müller, and Vergne, mounted an impressive comeback to claim third place. The team's No. 94 car, unfortunately, had to retire with less than two hours of the race remaining due to a high voltage issue.
Despite the challenges, the team's strategic tire management and the drivers' impressive performance in the No. 93 car secured them a podium finish.
“It was a hard race but we managed to secure a superb result in the end. We started at the back of the grid because our qualifying times were canceled, but we managed to produce a stunning comeback to finish on the podium!” said Nico Müller, driver of the No. 93 PEUGEOT 9X8.
The team's performance in Bahrain followed a fourth-place finish in Fuji, demonstrating the team's continuous progress and determination throughout the season.
“Although it was due to a decision by the stewards, finishing the season on the podium is a significant accomplishment in this particularly competitive championship. It's unfortunate, however, that the timing didn't allow Team Peugeot TotalEnergies to fully enjoy the joy of the podium ceremony. The season began under challenging conditions with a car that took time to find its rhythm, but the team never gave up, and we are pleased to end the season with a positive result that marks continuous progress. However, this podium should only be a step toward more consistent results in the top positions.” said Jean-Marc Finot, Stellantis Motorsport Senior VP.
The 2024 PEUGEOT 9X8 showed its potential throughout the season, leading Free Practice sessions in Bahrain and demonstrating impressive pace. The team's effective tire strategy, particularly in the closing stages of the races, played a key role in their strong finishes in Fuji and Bahrain.
This podium finish marks a significant achievement for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies, providing positive momentum as they look forward to the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season.
