Tony Stewart Hits Las Vegas Jackpot, Makes Racing History Scoring First NHRA Top Fuel Win in TSR Dodge//SRT Dragster

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 18, 2025 – In a legendary motorsports moment, Tony Stewart roared to victory in Las Vegas, capturing his first-ever NHRA Top Fuel win and etching his name even deeper into racing history. Driving the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Rayce Rudeen Foundation Dodge//SRT Top Fuel dragster, Stewart seized the win during the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

A Historic Win on a Storied Track

Stewart earns his first NHRA Top Fuel “Wally” trophy

Already a motorsports icon, Stewart now becomes the only driver to win professional events across NASCAR, IndyCar, USAC, and NHRA. His win on Sunday was more than just a personal milestone—it solidified his place in elite racing history, making him the only racer to clinch pro victories at all four Las Vegas Motor Speedway tracks.

The intense final round saw Stewart unleash a 3.870-second pass, edging out top competitors Antron Brown, Justin Ashley, and Jasmine Salinas in brutal 138-degree track conditions. His flawless performances in earlier rounds included impressive “holeshot” wins over Steve Torrence, Steve Chrisman, Rob Massey, and later, Doug Kalitta.

Momentum and Milestones

Victory vaults Stewart to second in NHRA Mission Top Fuel standings

This breakthrough comes just two weeks after Stewart’s runner-up finish at the NHRA Winternationals, signaling strong momentum in the 2025 season. His win now pushes him to second place in the NHRA Mission Top Fuel points standings.

“I haven’t been around the NHRA series very long, but I realized it takes a lot to win one of these Top Fuel races,” said Stewart. “Everything in my career, I never had to wait over a year to win a race. We always figured it out pretty quickly and we won. I had two ‘holeshot’ wins in the first two rounds today and my worst reaction time was in the final, but the TSR crew gave me a great car in the final. Neal Strausbaugh (crew chief) and Mike Domagala (co-crew chief) and the whole crew won that final round for us today. We needed this win. It’s been so stressful for everyone since Leah (Pruett, Stewart’s wife) nearly won the World Top Fuel Championship in 2023 when it came down to the final round of the whole season."

Double Trouble at the Strip

TSR teammate Matt Hagan advances to Funny Car final

TSR nearly secured a double-up victory, with four-time NHRA Funny Car World Champion Matt Hagan making it to the final round in his TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Hellcat. After dominant opening rounds, Hagan was on track for a sixth Las Vegas win. However, a mechanical failure at the starting line in the final left him unable to finish strong.

“We had a good weekend going into the final with both Tony (Stewart) and I advancing,” said Hagan. “We had a rod bolt break at the hit of the throttle in the final round. Unfortunately, it took some cylinders out and threw some rods out of the motor. We are still right in the hunt for the points lead now going to Charlotte for another Four-Wide race."

All Eyes on Charlotte
