Health needs training - training needs science

Submitted by J. Mikhail on

Activity alone is not enough!

Especially in times like these, which are characterised by physical inactivity, more focus needs to be put on the fundamental importance of muscle training for a long, healthy life. To educate society about this and to support training facilities in their communication, the Experten Allianz für Gesundheit e.V. was founded.

Muscle training - guarantee for health

The association's goal is to make people of all ages understand why muscle training is of elementary importance for their own health. Training facilities such as gyms, rehabilitation centres, etc. play a decisive role here, because they are the right place to go for targeted and systematic training. After all, it is not about just moving more, which basically describes any form of changing the position of the body, or being physically active and working in the garden, for example, but about optimising performance and health through a planned and targeted process. This requires scientifically sound training principles to achieve the desired adaptive effects.

We give the fitness and health industry a voice

As the independent representation of interests for fitness, training and health providers, the association is committed to setting a milestone on both a social and political level and to strengthening the status of health-promoting muscle training as well as the image of the fitness and health industry. Because training is more than just a leisure activity - health needs training! For this reason, muscle training should not only be used in the treatment and therapy of diseases, but also as an essential part of prevention. Here, too, the following applies: progressive, performance-enhancing muscle training can be implemented most effectively in training facilities with the necessary equipment.

Long-term customer loyalty through permanent education

To motivate people to train muscles in the long term, basic education about its positive effects is needed. This is because the initial motives are mostly purely aesthetic - weight loss and a better appearance are some of them. If these goals are not achieved within a very short time - as is often prophesied by classic advertising measures - the customer quickly has the feeling of having failed. As a result, motivation often automatically decreases. To counteract this development at an early stage, it is important to expand the reasons for training. Also, so that the sector is recognised as an important part of the health system and perceived as a credible health provider. Only when people realise that they can influence much more than their appearance through muscle training long term goals can be set. These benefits include improving general well-being, quality of life, (mental) health and many other facets of life. Muscle training can reduce the risk of a variety of lifestyle diseases:

  • Metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, for example, can be reduced by 30 per cent
  • Cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and arteriosclerosis by 20-25 per cent.

Competent support for health providers

This is where the Experten Allianz für Gesundheit e.V. comes in, to support the providers of health-promoting muscle training in their marketing through various advertising materials, campaigns and digital tools, and to motivate their customers permanently through knowledge about the importance of muscle training for their own health.

Lifelong training to ensure social participation

The motivation for health-conscious behaviour is already consolidated in childhood. Healthy children become healthy adults. Therefore, training and physical activity is not only important for adults. Even the youngest members of our society need to follow their natural urge to move and exercise their muscles. Project Childfit, as a division of the Experten Allianz für Gesundheit e.V., does exactly that and gives parents as well as trainers tips on training for children in the form of seminars, courses and articles and dispels half-truths.

Training needs science

As a unique association of professionals from different health and scientific disciplines, sound findings are produced and implemented in cooperation with experts, renowned research institutes and scientific organisations in joint research and care projects. For this purpose, the Research Institute for Training in Prevention (FIT Prevention) was founded in 2021. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ingo Froböse, it deals with the science and research surrounding the health-promoting benefits of muscle training. The institute generates its own data in the field of prevention-oriented training and thus creates a basis for transferring practical know-how to society and politics. Together with more than 70 research partners, initial data has already been collected. www.expertenallianz-gesundheit.de
