SHERIDAN, WYOMING – July 10, 2025 – Space simulation fans, rejoice — the long-anticipated 8.00 "Diplomacy Update" for X4: Foundations has officially landed in public beta. Packed with innovative features and strategic depth, this free update lets players shape the galaxy like never before — through the art of diplomacy.
Take Command of Galactic Politics
At the heart of this major release is a brand-new diplomacy system that introduces political gameplay as a key element. Players can now engage in negotiations, espionage, and inter-faction influence with a range of new tools designed to bring even more life and consequence to the X-universe.
You’ll unlock a dedicated Embassy Room at your main headquarters, where diplomats meet at a roundtable with representatives from other factions. This new space becomes the hub of your political maneuvering and is:
- Unlockable via HQ research
- Integrated into a new "Factions and Relations" menu
- Only accessible with friendly faction standing
Deploy Skilled Agents for High-Stakes Operations
A standout feature is the introduction of Agents — specialized NPCs who carry out diplomatic or covert missions on your behalf. From negotiating ceasefires to instigating chaos, these operatives bring a thrilling tactical edge to gameplay.
Key agent features include:
- A six-rank experience system
- Special missions like blueprint theft, sabotage, and relationship-building
- Resource-driven mechanics that blend credits, influence, and specialized items
- Risk-reward outcomes based on agent skill and mission difficulty
Players can initially control two agents, with the option to increase this number through research advancements.
Shape the Fate of the Galaxy
The diplomacy update also empowers players to influence — or disrupt — inter-faction relations. Trigger dynamic political events that shift alliances, spark trade wars, or ignite territorial disputes.
Players can:
- Use agents to influence outcomes
- Activate “Protocol Zero” to unleash chaos between NPC factions
- Or simply observe the outcomes unfold in real time
These events can lead to dramatic consequences like new alliances, open warfare, or restricted access to critical resources, making every decision matter in the evolving galactic landscape.
More Than Diplomacy: Boosted Performance and New Features
The update goes beyond diplomacy, enhancing both visuals and performance:
- DLSS Frame Generation: NVIDIA RTX 40 Series users can now double or even quadruple frame rates, significantly improving smoothness during large-scale battles or complex simulations.
- New UI Layouts: The in-game map has been redesigned for better clarity.
- New Construction Modules: Five new Argon connection modules expand creative options for station building.
- Portuguese Voice Acting: For the first time, Brazilian Portuguese voiceovers are available, making the game more accessible to a wider audience.
