Dunlop Tires Deliver Confidence and Control at Thrilling Spa 8-Hour Endurance Race

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – June 23, 2025 – Motorsport fans were treated to an adrenaline-packed spectacle at the 2025 8 Hours of Spa Motos, where Dunlop tires played a pivotal role in helping teams conquer constantly changing weather and track conditions. As rain and dry stretches alternated lap by lap, the versatile Dunlop KR range empowered riders to perform at their peak in one of endurance racing’s most demanding events.

Confidence Through Every Weather Twist

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit lived up to its reputation for unpredictability. With rain soaking one sector and sunshine drying out another, tire strategy became the deciding factor. Teams using Dunlop’s KR109 front and KR108 rear compounds for dry conditions — and switching to KR191, KR393, or KR398i for wet and intermediate moments — benefited from reliable grip, fast warm-up times, and excellent feedback.

Dunlop’s performance shined across all three classes: the exclusive Superstock Trophy and Production Trophy categories, and the open Formula EWC class where six Dunlop-equipped teams competed with customized strategies.

Superstock Teams Show Strength and Stability

In the Superstock Trophy, the #9 Champion-MRP-Tecmas BMW took pole and quickly made its presence known by breaking into the overall top ten early in the race. Dunlop-equipped teams claimed five of those top ten spots, including the #99 Elf Marc VDS Racing Team/KM99 Yamaha.

The #777 Wojcik Racing Team Yamaha, making its 2025 EWC debut, stunned spectators by rising to seventh overall within the opening hours. Riding on Dunlop’s trusted KR range, they confidently led the Superstock field early on.

Despite ongoing mixed conditions, the #9 BMW team of Leandro Denis Mercado, Hannes Soomer and Jan Bühn delivered a masterclass in grip management across wet and dry surfaces, ultimately winning the Superstock class and placing eighth overall. Close behind were:

  • #18 POMPIERS IGOL CMS MOTOSTORE Yamaha – 2nd in class
  • #55 Honda National Motos – 3rd in class, 11th overall

Production Trophy Podium Battle Goes the Distance

In Production Trophy, the #42 Green Team Lycee Sainte Claire Kawasaki started strong with another pole position. The race remained tight throughout all eight hours, especially at the halfway point when the #199 ARTEC Kawasaki and #222 Team Supermoto Racing Yamaha fought fiercely for the lead.

When the checkered flag waved, it was the #222 Team Supermoto Racing Yamaha that celebrated a second straight class win, with #199 ARTEC and #42 Kawasaki completing the podium.

ERC Endurance Team Leads Dunlop Charge in Formula EWC

Dunlop’s performance also stood out in the Formula EWC class, where six teams showed impressive pace and resilience. The #6 BMW and #99 Yamaha were the highest starters, launching from seventh and eighth on the grid.

ERC Endurance Team, running the #6 BMW, overcame early technical issues to climb back into contention. Their recovery was swift — reaching seventh by the end of hour one and briefly moving into second place as pit stops shuffled the field. They maintained a top-ten rhythm throughout and finished sixth overall, proving Dunlop’s consistency in fluctuating conditions.

The #99 Yamaha also began strong but suffered a setback by running out of fuel two hours in. Still, they bounced back with strong pace and durable tire support to finish twelfth. Additional efforts included:

  • #65 Motobox Kremer Racing Yamaha – P15 after starting P26
  • #53 Mana-au Competition Honda – P16 from P29
  • #14 Maco Racing Team Yamaha – P27
  • #90 Team LRP Poland BMW – P28

David Auerbacher, International Motorcycle Race Event Leader, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe, shared his praise:
“Congratulations to all the Dunlop-equipped teams for delivering exceptional performance in what is one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar. The wet conditions, fast-drying track as well as sudden weather changes demanded complete confidence in tire performance, so we’re proud that our Dunlop tires once again delivered the performance and stability needed to compete at the front of all categories.”

Looking Ahead to Suzuka and Bol d’Or

The FIM Endurance World Championship continues on August 3rd with the legendary Suzuka 8 Hours in Japan, followed by the season-ending Bol d’Or at Circuit Paul Ricard on September 21st.
