SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 28, 2025 – Deutsche Telekom and Google Cloud have announced a groundbreaking partnership focused on transforming Radio Access Network (RAN) operations using advanced Agentic AI. This collaboration leverages Google Cloud's Gemini 2.0 in Vertex AI to develop an intelligent network AI agent, designed to proactively address network challenges and enhance customer experiences.

Advancing Towards Autonomous Networks

As the complexity of telecommunications networks continues to escalate, traditional rule-based automation is proving insufficient. To address this, Deutsche Telekom and Google Cloud are pioneering the use of Agentic AI. This innovative approach utilizes large language models (LLMs) and sophisticated reasoning frameworks, enabling the creation of intelligent agents capable of independent thought, reasoning, action, and learning. The RAN Guardian agent, rigorously tested and validated by Deutsche Telekom, operates in a manner akin to human interaction, detecting network anomalies and autonomously implementing self-healing actions to optimize RAN performance.

Key Features of the RAN Guardian Agent

The RAN Guardian agent, powered by Gemini 2.0 in Vertex AI, alongside CloudRun, BigQuery, and Firestore, delivers several critical functionalities:

  • Autonomous RAN Performance Monitoring: The agent continuously analyzes key network parameters in real-time to predict and identify anomalies.
  • AI-Driven Issue Classification and Routing: By leveraging multiple data sources, including network monitoring, inventory, performance, and coverage data, the agent effectively identifies and prioritizes network degradations.
  • Proactive Network Optimization: The agent recommends or autonomously implements corrective measures, such as resource reallocation and configuration adjustments, to maintain optimal network performance.

Deutsche Telekom and Google Cloud will showcase the RAN Guardian agent at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) from March 3-6, 2025.

  • Abdu Mudesir and Google Cloud’s Muninder Sambi will present at Deutsche Telekom Booth #3M31 in Hall 3, on March 3, from 13:30-14:00, detailing how AI agents are shaping the future of network operations.
