SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Dec. 7, 2024 – Deutsche Telekom is once again demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility with over 2,300 employees volunteering their time to support the "Ein Herz für Kinder" (A Heart for Children) charity telethon. This annual event, broadcast live on ZDF on December 7th, 2024, raises funds for children in need around the world.
Telekom Employees Answer the Call to Help
Telekom employees will be stationed at hotlines in 17 service centers across Germany, as well as working from home, to take donations from viewers during the live broadcast. This dedicated team plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the telethon, with their efforts helping to raise millions of euros for children's charities.
"With heart involved – no motto could better describe our commitment," says Telekom Chief Human Resources Officer Birgit Bohle. "Because supporting children in need is a matter close to Telekom's heart. Too many lack the most basic necessities, such as medical treatment, warm meals, or even a roof over their heads. We want to contribute to ensuring that children have a fair chance."
A Long-Standing Commitment to Children and Young People
Deutsche Telekom has a long history of supporting children and young people through various initiatives. The company focuses on education and awareness to protect young people's privacy online, minimize digital risks, and promote safe and responsible media use.
"For Telekom, supporting needy children is a matter of the heart," emphasizes Bohle. "I thank our employees for their voluntary commitment. This is not something to be taken for granted and deserves great recognition – especially in view of the upcoming International Volunteer Day."
Celebrating the Spirit of Volunteerism
International Volunteer Day, observed on December 5th, recognizes the contributions of volunteers around the world who dedicate their time and effort to making a positive impact in their communities. Telekom's participation in the "Ein Herz für Kinder" telethon is a testament to the company's commitment to social responsibility and the spirit of volunteerism.
"Ein Herz für Kinder": Making a Difference in the Lives of Children
