SHERIDAN, WYOMING – March 4, 2025 – Deutsche Telekom is set to revolutionize the consumer technology landscape with the introduction of its AI Phone and the broader "Magenta AI" ecosystem, showcasing a significant leap from concept to reality.
From Vision to Reality: The AI Phone Emerges
In 2024, Deutsche Telekom presented the concept of an AI Phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Now, the company is advancing this vision, bringing the AI Phone to customers. Central to this innovation is the Perplexity assistant, transforming the AI Phone into a versatile and indispensable companion. Users can seamlessly perform tasks such as ordering taxis, reserving tables, translating in real-time, and obtaining instant answers to queries. This virtual butler, accessible on the AI Phone, can also manage emails, initiate calls, play music, summarize and translate texts, and organize calendar entries. The AI Phone will also feature integrations with Google Cloud AI, ElevenLabs, and Picsart. The AI Phone will be available in course of the year.
The digital assistant can be accessed directly from the lock screen or by double-tapping the power button on smartphones available at Deutsche Telekom.

"Magenta AI": Democratizing AI Access
For customers who prefer to retain their existing smartphones, Deutsche Telekom is expanding access to these AI capabilities through the "Magenta AI" platform within the MeinMagenta app. Starting this summer, Google Cloud AI, ElevenLabs, and Picsart will join Perplexity as integrated applications.

Perplexity: Your Personal AI Assistant
Perplexity, a leading AI startup, which answered billions of question in 2024, was the inaugural partner of "Magenta AI" in the fall of 2024. The Perplexity Assistant, launched earlier this year, will serve as the core functionality of the AI Phone. It processes language, text, and images to create calendar entries, compose emails, summarize content, and translate information. Users can also leverage the assistant to order taxis, initiate calls, order food, and shop.

Google Cloud AI integrates AI seamlessly into daily life, providing contextually relevant assistance. For instance, users can translate conversations and written text from signs and menus in real-time using their device's camera. This is enabled by Google’s Gemini Multimodal Live API, which facilitates natural, human-like voice interactions and supports video understanding.
ElevenLabs: Simplified Podcast Creation
ElevenLabs enables users to generate engaging multi-speaker podcasts from various inputs, including prompts, URLs, and documents. This AI-driven podcast creation streamlines content production, significantly reducing time and resources.
Picsart: AI Avatars for Everyone
Picsart’s integration into "Magenta AI" allows users to create personalized AI avatars from selfies and photos, applying diverse artistic styles such as Superhero, Anime, and Fantasy.
