SHERIDAN, WYOMING – September 15, 2024 – The Lausitz – Carl Thiem Medical University (MUL-CT) and Telekom have formed a long-term innovation partnership aimed at improving healthcare services for approximately one million citizens in Brandenburg, Germany. The collaboration will leverage digitalization to enhance patient care within the hospital and throughout the region.

Digital Foundation for Improved Care

The first step in this partnership involves establishing a modern and powerful hybrid IT infrastructure. "For the people we treat and our employees, this is a milestone on the path to utilizing digitalization for better medical therapy and the best possible nursing and therapeutic care," said Prof. Dr. mult. Eckhard Nagel, CEO of MUL-CT.

Secure Data Storage and Long-Term Innovation

Data will be stored in regional, highly secure data centers of the Open Telekom Cloud, which are ISO/IEC 27001 certified and comply with the strict requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). "With around 1,500 cybersecurity specialists, we ensure that the data is secure and always available and protected from cyberattacks," said Dr. Gottfried Ludewig, Managing Director of Telekom Healthcare Solutions.

The cloud infrastructure will serve as the foundation for further digitalization efforts. MUL-CT and Telekom will continue to develop technologies and services that provide sustainable benefits to patients. "We want to create the basis with one of the world's largest telecommunications companies so that patient data in the model region can be collected securely and used for medical care in the future," explained Nagel.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Play a Key Role

Artificial intelligence will play a crucial role in networking and providing patients with quick and secure access to healthcare. AI will also help optimize treatment processes after hospital stays, supporting and relieving doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.
