SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Mar. 5, 2025 – Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a series of strategic senior leadership changes aimed at enhancing its evolution into a more brand-focused enterprise. These adjustments reflect Hyatt's commitment to refining its leadership structure to better serve guests, owners, and developers across its five distinct brand portfolios: Lifestyle, Luxury, Inclusive, Classics, and Essentials.
Marc Jacheet Joins Hyatt as Group President, EAME
Starting March 17, Marc Jacheet will assume the role of group president for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME), with a full transition into the position by July 1. Jacheet brings over 25 years of leadership experience, having held key roles at globally recognized luxury and consumer brands, including De Beers, Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon, and Evian. He also previously led Tiffany & Co.’s operations for the Asia-Pacific and EAME regions.
Jacheet will be based at Hyatt’s EAME Hub in Zurich, Switzerland, and report directly to Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s president and CEO. His appointment underscores Hyatt’s ambition to drive regional performance and expand its footprint in the EAME market.
Javier Águila Appointed Chief Growth Officer
Javier Águila, who has led Hyatt’s EAME division since 2022, will transition into his new role as chief growth officer on July 1, while also fulfilling his recently announced role as president of Inclusive Collection. Águila will be responsible for overseeing Hyatt’s global growth through strategic development, execution, and transactions. To ensure a smooth transition, he will continue to support Jacheet in the EAME leadership role between March 17 and June 30 before fully assuming his new responsibilities. He will remain under the leadership of Hoplamazian.
Jim Chu Moves to Head of Owner Relations
Jim Chu, who has served as Hyatt’s chief growth officer since 2022, will take on a newly created role as head of owner relations effective July 1. In this position, he will focus exclusively on strengthening relationships with Hyatt’s key stakeholders, including hotel owners and developers. Chu will continue reporting to Hoplamazian as part of Hyatt’s commitment to enhancing its partnerships and fostering long-term value for property owners.
Hyatt's Leadership Vision for the Future
These leadership changes highlight Hyatt's strategic direction toward a more brand-centric organizational model. The company remains focused on enhancing guest experiences while ensuring its brand portfolios meet evolving market demands.
Mark Hoplamazian emphasized the significance of these changes, stating, “Today’s announcements highlight two key points for Hyatt. First, bringing in top business leaders with deep brand and operating expertise like Marc Jacheet will lead to building EAME’s momentum in performance and growth and accelerate our evolution toward a more brand-focused, high-performance enterprise. Second, assigning new strategic roles to Hyatt leaders like Javier Águila and Jim Chu demonstrates the agile leadership capabilities we are developing for the future.”
He continued, “I am delighted to welcome Marc to the Hyatt family. He brings extensive global operations experience from leading consumer brands, a fresh perspective on our industry and, importantly, aligns closely with our culture. Javier’s expertise in organic and inorganic growth as well as extensive M&A and strategic investments experience derives from his time at private equity firms in Europe. Considering the growth momentum the EAME region has experienced under his leadership since 2022, I am confident he will expertly guide the next chapter of Hyatt’s global growth journey across all five brand portfolios. Jim’s 20 years in owner- and operator-focused roles at Hyatt perfectly position him to drive innovation and deliver exceptional value to this key stakeholder group in a more focused way.”
These leadership shifts reinforce Hyatt's ongoing mission to deliver high-quality hospitality experiences, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and drive long-term growth in the global market. By optimizing its leadership structure, Hyatt is positioning itself for continued success as a brand-focused enterprise that prioritizes excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
