ITB Berlin 2025: Medical & Health Tourism Takes Center Stage

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Jan. 30, 2025 – The global medical and health tourism sector is experiencing a surge in demand, and ITB Berlin is responding by providing a central platform for this burgeoning market. From March 4-6, 2025, the Medical & Health Tourism Pavilion at ITB Berlin will showcase innovative products and services from around the world, complemented by networking events, a media reception, the ITB Medical & Health Night, and a three-day program on the Medical & Health Tourism Stage.

Medical & Health Tourism Pavilion: A Hub of Innovation

Located in Hall 4.1, the Medical & Health Tourism Pavilion will host national and international exhibitors, including clinics, hospitals, hotels, destinations, and tour operators. Attendees can expect to connect with industry leaders like the Croatian Chamber of Economy, medical travel providers, clinics from Turkey and Germany (including Kliniken Maria Hilf Mönchengladbach), and international partners such as the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA), the European Spas Association (ESPA), and the Health Tourism Industry (HTI).

The pavilion will also feature a Meeting Lounge for networking and a diverse program on the Medical & Health Tourism Stage.

Medical & Health Tourism Stage: Insights and Trends

The Medical & Health Tourism Stage will offer a daily program from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring presentations, discussions, product demonstrations, and expert interviews. Key topics include best-practice destinations in medical tourism, "Thermal Destinations facing Climate Change and Sustainability," and wellness trends in medical tourism.

Highlights of the stage program include:

  • Panel Discussion: "Demographic Changes – New Concepts in Health Tourism and Longevity, the Role of Promoting Health Tourism, Thermal Springs and Climate Resorts," featuring industry leaders like Olga Gončarova (CEO, Lithuania Travel), Martin Plachý (CEO, Royal Spa), and Frank Halmos (CEO, Ensana Hotels). This discussion, moderated by Csilla Mezösi (Secretary General of the European Spas Association), will explore innovative approaches to address demographic change.
  • Düsseldorf's Rise in Medical Tourism: Dimitri Belov (Head of Health Marketing, Düsseldorf Tourismus GmbH) will share insights into Düsseldorf's strategies for establishing itself as a leading medical tourism destination.
  • Keynote on the Future of Medical Tourism: Prof. Diana Cuevas (President of the World Council for Medical Tourism) will deliver a keynote address on why medical tourism is becoming an integral part of the international hospitality industry.
  • Bulgaria's Focus on Affordable Luxury: Miroslav Borshosh (Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria) and Dr. Siyka Katsarova (President of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism) will showcase how Bulgaria is leveraging its strengths in spa tourism to attract visitors seeking affordable luxury and natural wellness experiences.

  • Medical & Health Media Reception: Following the opening of the Medical & Health Tourism Pavilion on March 4th at 12:30 p.m., media professionals can network with exhibitors at the Medical & Health Media Reception, supported by Visit Düsseldorf.
  • Medical & Health Networking Reception: At the end of the first day of the fair, March 4th, trade visitors can network with exhibitors in a relaxed atmosphere at the Medical & Health Networking Reception starting at 5 p.m.
  • ITB Medical Night: The ITB Medical Night on Wednesday, March 5th, will feature the presentation of the ITB Medical Tourism Award and the inaugural ITB Health Tourism Award. This year's awards will go to Turkey and Lithuania. The event starts at 7 p.m.

ITB Berlin Congress: "Body and Mind - Transformative Hospitality"

On Thursday, March 6th, the ITB Berlin Congress will host a session titled "Body and Mind - Transformative Hospitality," focusing on how the hotel industry is redefining itself in the areas of medicine, health, and holistic well-being. This panel discussion, moderated by Thomas Bömkes (ITB Medical & Health Tourism Advisor, Diversity Tourism GmbH) and Valentina Clerque (EHL Campus Lusanne), will feature Dr. Prem Jagyasi (Physician and CEO, Dr. Prem and Associates, India) and other experts, who will present innovative approaches and concepts for successfully integrating the hotel industry into medical and wellness-oriented destinations.

Online accreditation for press representatives and bloggers/creators is now open. Please note the accreditation guidelines. There will be no accreditation options at the press counters on-site during ITB Berlin. After successful registration and verification, you will receive your accreditation and badge with your personal QR code for admission by email as a PDF attachment. Please present your QR code at the entrance. Your ticket is non-transferable.
