Meyer Jabara Hotels has announced the promotion of Eric Churchill to chief operating officer. In his new role, Churchill will oversee portfolio operations, focusing on ensuring best-in-class operations and performance. Churchill’s extensive tenure with the company, which began in 2004 as general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Copley Square in Boston, underscores his deep understanding of the hotel industry.
His career progression includes a transition to general manager of the Providence (R.I.) Marriott, followed by a promotion to senior vice president of operations in 2013. “There is something really exciting about managing people and leading individuals who have a passion to succeed,” Churchill said. “Meyer Jabara Hotels is a true winner. William (Bill) J. Hornbuckle, CEO and president of MGM Resorts International, has been selected as the national chair of the U.S. Travel Association’s board of directors. His two-year term, formalized through a membership vote, will see him succeed Chris Nassetta, president and CEO of Hilton. Hornbuckle will collaborate with association leaders to prioritize industry initiatives, including maximizing opportunities presented by major events such as the 2025 Ryder Cup, 2026 World Cup, and 2028 Summer Olympics.
As national chair, Hornbuckle will lead an executive board of 30 members from across the travel industry and a board of delegates. He will work closely with U.S. Travel’s Freeman and the executive leadership team to advance the association’s mission of increasing travel to and within the United States.
