Republic of Kazakhstan Introduces New Neo-Nomad Visa for Foreign Remote Workers

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 10, 2025 – The Republic of Kazakhstan has recently introduced a new visa for foreign nationals who work remotely and wish to combine their professional activities with travel. The so-called "Neo-Nomad Visa" (Category B12-1) is valid for one year and can be extended for another year.

Requirements for the Neo-Nomad Visa

To apply for a Neo-Nomad Visa, foreign nationals must meet certain requirements and submit the necessary documents. These include:

  • Invitation letter: Invitation letters are generally required, however, applicants from the following 48 countries are exempt from submitting an invitation letter: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Canada, Qatar, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Austria, Spain, South Korea, Hungary, United States of America, United Arab Emirates, Cyprus.

Application Procedure

The application procedure for the Neo-Nomad Visa includes the following steps:

  1. Compilation of all required documents: Applicants must compile all the above-mentioned documents and have them translated if necessary.
  2. Submission of the application to a Kazakh foreign representation: The application must be submitted to the nearest Kazakh embassy or consulate.
  3. Examination of the documents by authorized bodies: The Kazakh authorities review the submitted documents for completeness and accuracy.
  4. Issuance of the visa: After successful review, the visa is issued within five working days.

Important Notes

  • The Neo-Nomad Visa does not authorize the holder to take up employment in Kazakhstan. Foreign nationals who wish to work in Kazakhstan require a separate work permit.
  • Spouses and children of the applicant also receive a visa with the same validity period as that of the main applicant.
