SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 31, 2024 – Miswa Chemicals UK, a renowned manufacturer of homecare, automotive, and insecticide products, has partnered with Sidel to automate its end-of-line operations with three customized case packing solutions. This collaboration has resulted in a 40% increase in production line efficiency.
Addressing the Need for Automation
Miswa Chemicals UK sought a reliable partner to automate the manual loading of various products, including large metal cans, Jerry cans, and aerosols, into corrugated cases. Sidel, with its extensive portfolio and expertise in secondary packaging, provided three adapted case packers to handle the different product types on three separate lines.
"The Sidel project team worked hard to understand our needs and offered a comprehensive tailored-made packing solution that aligned well with our various technical specifications from our different production lines," explains Oren Patel-Champion, Director at Miswa Chemicals UK. "Sidel was one of the very few companies capable of addressing our diverse primary and secondary requirements with technically and economically adapted solutions from their existing proof-ready portfolio."
Wrap-Around Packing for Cardboard Savings
For its aerosol metal spray line, Miswa Chemicals UK transitioned from manual RSC (regular slotted container) packing to an automated wrap-around packing solution using the Cermex WB46 wrap-around case packer. This change resulted in significant savings on annual corrugated cardboard volumes while enabling a shelf-ready presentation.
The Cermex WB46, with its modular design, is adaptable to various production speeds, from low speeds of nine cases per minute to high speeds of up to 28 cases per minute.
Bottom-Loading Case Packers for Product Integrity
For the line producing large 3L and 4.5L metal cans of filler paste in RSC cases, Sidel recommended the Cermex SF39 automatic case packer, which loads products from the bottom to prevent damage. This equipment can handle six to ten cases per minute, depending on the format.
Similarly, for the line managing 5L Jerry cans, a Cermex SF39 case packer was chosen to handle 12 cases (24 products) per minute.
A Successful Collaboration
Sidel's collaboration with Miswa Chemicals UK is part of a broader line upgrade project that has led to an overall 40% increase in production capacity.
"The Sidel project team perfectly understood our needs and was reactive in providing us with good technical recommendations," says Oren Patel-Champion. "Even if Sidel is usually recognized for its high-end robotics and sophisticated technologies, they proved that their portfolio can also adapt to traditional low/medium speed applications for strong national players such as ourselves."
Sidel's extensive packing portfolio offers solutions for various case sizes, payloads, and speeds, catering to diverse product types, including homecare, personal care, food, and beverages.
